That means your registration fee covers your entry in the event AND meals, snacks and unlimited water and soft drinks for the entire time you are there.

The 2016 Stele Open will be held at the Best Western Battlefield Inn in Manassas, VA. If you need a room please call the hotel directly and mention the event to get a rate. http://bestwesternbattlefieldinn.com/703-361-8000

I am TO'ing the Armada event for Aaron, come on down and have a great time. As well as the swag, lunch and dinner are included as are free snacks and soda all day.

I have seen these prizes and they are beyond awesome and the mats we'll be playing on and are able to purchase are just beyond belief.

AND IT'S FIVE ROUNDS OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST GAME, so cancel all your plans and come on down :-)

****. . .wish this was the week before. My principal would probably kill me if I took off the Friday after school vacation!

I'm going to try to be there, if I have the wife points for it. It would also be my first Armada tourney instead of the regional up here lol.

You can't play 5 games of Armada in 1 day. This is stupid.

In 12 hours? Why not?

Because at 400 points official round time is 2.5 hours, five games need 12.5 hours plus you really really need a few minutes between games for tournament overhead, meals, and bathroom breaks.

Ah, indeed, that would be a problem.

Tournament FAQ: (Bold Emphasis Mine)

With the release of Wave 2 the official fleet size has increased to 400 points, the round time has increased to 135 minutes, and the Margin of Victory table has been updated. This is the culmination of the Armada tournament format and will remain the standard from this point on.

2 Hours, 15 Minutes... Not quite 2.5 Hours... But still, its pulling it VERY close.

Eh, you guys just aren't trying hard enough.

I think it would be fun, but there are some things happening at work that will most likely prevent me from doing this.

Still though...those mats are sweet.

This is in a private function room so there is no issue with how long we stay in it. We are starting at 10 am and with lunch and dinner breaks, we will finish around midnight. There is also a bar for those who want a beer as well as snacks and drinks all day. It's a marathon, but it will be a lot of fun, many players are from far enough away that they are staying at the hotel, so travel isn't an issue either.

We'd love to see you all there, so if you can, join us.

I signed up and look forward to it. It's also about having a good time with a bunch of people. Just know Saturday will be a super lazy day for me at home. Lol

ROAD TRIP!!!!!

(i wish)

Ugh. I mean, I love Armada, but 5 rounds in one day sounds just miserable. There's a reason the tournament rules explicitly discourages it.

Large Events

A TO should run no more than four rounds in a single day. FFG

recommends that tournaments that contain 33 or more players

be run over the course of two days, three rounds the first day

and the remaining rounds the second day.

I'd be all about it if it were not on a Friday. I'll be arriving at a new unit at the beginning of April and I'm not really comfortable asking for leave that early.

I have a lot of family in the DC area and would love an Armada road trip... Friday is slightly problematic, but I think this is worth some serious consideration, it sounds like a blast! Sure, there are five matches in a single day - but there is something I find fun about delirium setting in at the close of a full day of Armada...

@Drasnighta you are correct, I must have had an old version on my phone

@EnglishPete having the room all day and evening does make a difference, it will be quite the marathon for sure.

I wish I could get away for this, because it sounds amazing. I might have to do it if they bring it back next year.
