TIE Advanced Prototype [22]

Baron of the Empire (19)

TIE/v1 (1)

Juke (2)

VS

TIE/fo Fighter [22]

Omega Squadron Pilot (17)

Comm Relay (3)

Juke (2)

Both of these fighters possess a very similar function, yet they each have a lot of little nuances to them that really set them apart despite their massive similarities. Which do you think is better? Which do you prefer? Why?

They both have their draws. I love tie FO manuever dials, but if your Imperial list is having problems with TLT carriers, the TAP feels like the way to neuter them. However you have to take auto thrusters to really set the two apart. IMO the better knife fighter is the FO. Sloops and interceptor greens on that dial make it happen. A juke Tap can chase much better if you have the support to give it target locks. Having boost and barrel roll can get it in better positions, but you miss out on juke if you don't target lock, so things like thread tracers feel almost mandatory to support the juke TAP for it's greatest effect.

That tech slot for Comm Relay is a huge argument for the FO. It makes it a much stronger Juke carrier, because the Evade doesn't require an action.

You'll probably end up using neither until soonts and poe go poof

Between the two, though, it's Omega BY FAR

Comm Relay gives an absolutely vital flexibility when using juke, enabling it with focus brolls locks and even red maneuvers

TAPs only gets it on TL, which is very fiddly on lower ps . you can't even set up tl and then focus next turn since you MUST tl to evade

Omegas also already shred TLTs before they get to shoot; thrusters are overkill on low PS

The only Tap I see Juke being viable on is the Inquisitor due to his pilot ability. Otherwise FOs take the day for the action efficiency everyone else has already mentioned. Crackshot or Ptl seem like the better choice for barons.
