One more SC. Coming up. Going with brobots.what shall I fear?

By Velvetelvis, in X-Wing

Pretty confident with the dual aggressors. (Symmetrical,B-C, Hlc, dampeners, VI, and... Whatever else).

Feels decent against the stuff I've practiced around with . But what's my hard counters? What should I be especially cautious against?

I think....high PS ace lists is my weak spot, but instead of creating it I think it's best to pick one and focus it aggressively right away.

But beyond that....hmmm , I wonder...

You should absolutely dread the conner nets that no one will bring

plop-aceholes are a tough matchup. it's part of what makes glitter-crack attractive bc it increases the chance you can bust a stealth device if you can catch one of them slippery devils in arc.

You should, before anything else, fear flying badly. Brobots are a pretty demanding list, and not particularly tolerant of errors.

After that, worry about high-PS arc-dodgers that can outmaneuver you, and worry about anything that deals damage while ignoring your damage mitigation--including, as fickle says, Conner nets and other bombs.

if my store champion experience says anything about brobots its....Omega Leader.

You should fear your green dice failing. If you keep both of the IGs in play you will catch arc-dodgers with at least one IG eventually. You get into trouble when one of the IGs goes down too quickly because of a bunch of green blanks.

A well-flown stress list will give you trouble since the IGs rely on the K/S-turns.

Me.

+1 to avoid stress, +1 to Crack Shot. Keep in mind that all the IG's turns are white, so a good opponent will exploit that if you get stressed.

The "whatever else" part is pretty important to know. I'm not entirely confident VI is gonna help you much. No one is going to VI something up to 7, and anything that starts at 7 is going to VI up to 9. I think you'd be occupying an awkward space at a high cost. Sure, you can simultaneously fire against Omega Leader, but you're much more likely to hit with Crack Shot.

Are you taking Autothusters? Sensor Jammer (great vs TLT's or anyone who has to K-Turn to blast you)? FCS? Those mod and sensor slots can really change up how the ship plays.

I'd say watch out for the rebel regen lists.

IG-88s, even equipped with heavy laser cannon, rely on chipping away at the enemy while dodging damage and arcs. You won't get a shot on any single ship every turn - and that's bad news when that ship can repair the damage you do to it.

Your 8 attack dice is your biggest weakness!

i think brobots should fear everything.

Flown well they can beat anything, but one mistake and the game can flip.

aces, particularly rebel aces, regenning aces, are deadly. Poe can 1 on 1 a robot easily.

palp-aces is less scary, but difficult to get into arc, and your green dice will always fail when you need them to theleast.

4TLT can be dangerous if they can keep you from focus firing a ship down.

4bz will tear you up if you cant capitlize on the inevitable 2k the Bs take, and use the next turn to get out of arc and take 1 or 2 down when they do the green manuever.

new scum lists with Latts and moralo can tear up your defense and destroy you with that 180 arc.

looking forward, dengar will be very difficult with his PS9, barrel-rolling and boosting.... PTL dengar will be especially deadly.

Dash flown well

Im sure Im missing something.

But robots are literally only as good as who is flying them. and i think next to a swarm are one of the worst lists to have at the end of a day.

Gunner Vader Chiraneau + Buzzsaw whisper can really drop some damage on IG's. But I hear they're only lurking on the west coast now :)

I've killed dual IGs with a crackswarm of 6 ties. Block them and focus on one IG, then clean up the other. Once you block a Sloop or K-turn it becomes easier.

But robots are literally only as good as who is flying them.

And Brobots without AdvS have a significantly lower skill-ceiling than those with.

The only lists that make me grit my teeth, when I'm flying Brobots, are those with four or more Crack Shots in it. I'm not super-trilled with several sub-PS 6 blockers, either.

Wired is worth considering. I tried it for a build last weekend and found it really negated a lot of the stress heavy builds. Sure, I couldn't K/Sloop if it was piled on, but it meant I was still getting rerolls on offense and defence. My opponent actually stopped triggering stress after a while, figuring I was gaining more from it than I was losing in actions denied.

the Label of "oh your a BroBot player" :P

So they basically have nothing to fear but their own pilot. Whoa.

Very interesting that you say that because that's exactly my backup list I was considering bringing if I have a change of heart.

Fear... most of Wave 8.

in my experience sensor jammer really helps. even vs poe, he either spends the focus or he does 1 less dmg to you. I also like wired. not sure VI will help you much

Right on. I'll pop VI off and move some things around. Possibly predator. I'm just infatuated with predator. I like wired as well.

I constantly play brobots. My hardest issue is rebel regen. Went 3-3 at my sc mostly because I went 2-2 in my four matchups against Poe with R2-D2. I took a short break from them mostly because I just couldn't beat Corran or Poe enough.
