PSA: Adaptability and setup

By DagobahDave, in X-Wing

There's a lot of confusion about how this works. I think it's pretty simple.

Ignore all dual card effects until you place a ship equipped with them on the play area (the 3x3 foot area where ships maneuver). When you let go of that ship, flip its dual cards to the desired sides and then apply their effects from that point on.

Move on to placing the next ship.

That's all there is to it.

So you select the side during deployment but this ship/pilot still deploys as normal. It only allows you to change Pilot Skill between matches not between rounds so definitely a tournament card.

Just as useful in casual games.

Yeah not sure why anyone thinks it's only useful in tournaments. Anytime you want a +1 to PS and don't have points, you can use that card if the Elite slot is open.

The ability to flip it is also useful in any game, tournament or casual. Anytime you might find a +1 or -1 to PS, being able to decide that after you see the other guys list the card is useful.

"When you let go of that ship"

I let go of my ships many times during setup.

I just thought in light of some recent misunderstandings about per-ship activations in the setup phase it needed to be stated.
