Adaptability on a 7x Black Sq. Pilot swarm to out-PS the Crackshot swarm! ...wait, I have to pay $80 to do that? No thanks.
Best use of adaptability?
The best use? When it happens it gets you that PS advantage you want without costing you the points.
Places where adaptability will useful:
1. Helping match up pilot PS when you want more maneuver freedom.
2. Getting a ship that additional point of PS with you don't have the points for something else.
3. VERY rarely dropping the PS of a ship to improve its blocking ability.
4. Times when you may be able to use it multiple ways by using the other side between matches.
I really like the Vader examples where you can run into at least three of the different reasons for using it. There may be times you are running those PS 8 ships and want the maneuvering and shooting options that matching PS brings. There will be times you run up against another PS 9 and now can use the PS 10 to get the maneuvering/shooting advantage. And at a point less than VI you can use that for other upgrades or as an initiative bid.
Colonel Vessery — TIE Defender 35
Veteran Instincts 1
Tractor Beam 1
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1
TIE/D 0
Ship Total: 38
Darth Vader — TIE Advanced 29
Adaptability (-1) 0
Advanced Targeting Computer 1
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1
TIE/x1 0
Ship Total: 31
The Inquisitor — TIE Advanced Prototype 25
Juke 2
Autothrusters 2
TIE/v1 1
Ship Total: 30
I think this could work well vessery opens up reducing agility and clearing a few shields, then with juke inquisitor has a great chance to punch through, then Vader delivers the finishing blow.
That was exatly the list I was thinking about. If you're facing something like Whisper, you can jack up Vader to PS10. If you're facing a list where there is no PS9 or PS10, you drop him down to 8 and take advantage of the synergy with Vessery.
looks like a tournament card. And only 1 per mist hunter means going to have to get at least 2.
It is a shame that the mist hunter is overcosted being 2 points more than a B-wing, I may get 2 just for the adaptability but I really don't see myself using more than 1.
What? There's 2 in the Mist Hunter I'm sure...
Edit: Yep

2 points more?
23 = 22 + 1
Mind you, buying up to an adaptability findsman probably is a bad idea
Sorry exams coming up and brain is a little fried.
But still the G1-a is overcosted being more than a B-wing while having a lower % shield coverage. The stat line is worse than a B-wing yet it cost more. I guess the dial is a little better with an additional K-turn and a 3 straight green but I think that should put it at the same cost as a B-wing not 1 point more.
and yes it is a good thing that FFG is generous in giving us 2 of these but this sounds almost like an autoinclude card meaning you will want to have at least 4 if not 6.
Edited by MarinealverUnless you're running green squad crackswarm, I doubt you'll ever find use for more than 1 adaptability
With tractor beams coming out I do see use of the -1PS adaptability, to make sure more ships fire at the same time.

It's not overcosted. It's a PS3 vs P2, meaning that you're paying 1 more for 1 PS than the B-Wing. It has a better dial and has an evade over the barrel roll.

Money is still on the Crackswarm. With 3 Omegas and 3 Blacks it even has the same amount of health as 7x Black Squadron.
