Any list out there that really make good use of Ion Weapons? Tips on flying it effectively?

The best Ion build historically has been Rebel Convoy. Outer Rim Smuggler x2 and y-wing with Ion Cannon x2. It seems crazy on the surface, but the ORS gets in someone's way while a y-wing Ions them, and they continue to bump and get ion'd until dead. It is very much a control sort of list, not relying on high damage. It has a large amount of Hp, so ships live long enough to get in position. It relies on some good prediction of where your opponent will fly, to set up the blocks.

Otherwise, Ion can be splashed as a control option, but it has fallen out of favor for the slightly less effective but much easier to apply stress options.

Yeah, rebel convoy is a good one. I believe KO updated it to something like:

3 golds w/ BTL-A4 & ion turret

ORS w/ leebo & ion projectors

There might be some ion bombs or something else in there as well, can't remember.

Another decent one is 4 blues with ion cannons. Simple but effective. I personally don't feel the need for that many ion cannons, so I run it with 2 blues w/ ion plus 2 blue novices (T70) w/ R2 astros & integrated. I usually bring the b-wings in for a joust and sweep the faster x-wings in from the side (or at least one of them---depends on opponent and board of course). They all start in a box formation though (and break out during the first few turns)

When imperial veterans is out, triple deltas with ion + TIE/D will be a dominant list that people will be forced to adapt to.
