Reading through the rules for Forgotten Souls...

By tomkat364, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

So the loot track has two columns, one that is measured with wound markers and one that is measured with fatigue markers. Everytime a master is defeated, you gain one fatigue. Everytime a monster (minion or master not specified) is defeated, you gain 1,2, or 4 wound tokens depending on the base size of the monster. You can also gain wound tokens by flipping over search cards.

How would you ever have more fatigue than wounds???

Am I reading something wrong?

You really won't ever have more fatigue than wounds. Even if every monster you defeat is a 1 space master monster, you'll still have an equal number of fatigue and wound counters on the card.

And I know you put the fatigue on before the wounds, but by the time you got to six wounds you would trigger a card draw even for 4 players, so why the 7th fatigue counter? Are there some cards or game effects that increase the fatigue track outside of monster slaying by any chance? (dont' wanna read all the cards and spoil any surprises)

Not that I'm aware of, but the possibility exists for future co-op expansions to take advantage of that spot. My assumption is that the loot track is that long just to avoid the extra blank space on the card.

Yes, what Zaltyre said is the thruth, none of the three Coops out there have any mechanic that will allow you to get enough fatigue to fill the column.

My friends and I have houseruled that the same rule that applies "for killing a monster you get the damage tokens according to its base size", also applies to the fatigue in case of masters. For instance, if the master shadow dragon dies, you will be able to draw 7 cards intead of just 1. This beacuse the shop deck is pretty large if you get expansions, and you won't be able to reach a good variation of objects. Also, thematically (in RPG sense) when killing a huge monster you get a bigger reward.

Another thing we houseruled was the selling process for items you don't need nor want anymore. You can sell them and obtain just 1 damage token in the loot track.

That would make it a lot easier for the heroes:p But the co-op expansions are pretty hard so if you get stuck a lot it could certainly help.

Back to the OP, there is an encounter that possibly resets the damage tokens, but not the fatigue tokens, on the loot track. But I also think like Zaltyre that they made the fatigue track that high because they otherwise would have just wasted space on the card.
