SCUM//Boba & IG

By Scrubby Guy, in X-Wing Squad Lists

The forums are hot with people looking for feedback and it's great to see so many discussions taking place.

Would be great to hear some suggestions for the list I'm currently having some trouble with. Would like to hear what your thoughts are and how you might fine tune this.

Aggressor: IG-88B (36 + 15)

+ Push the Limit (3)

+ Advanced Sensors (3)

+ Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

+ Autothrusters (2)

Firespray-31: Boba Fett (39 + 10)

+ Veteran Instincts (1)

+ Gunner (5)

+ Engine Upgrade (4)

Just can't make up my mind with this one. How worth it is Gunner on Boba? Would I just be better of with a Tactician and Glitterstim? Should I take Advanced Sensors or Sensor Jammer on the IG? Should it even be IG88B? So many questions...

Let me know some answers!

I think it's very solid as is. I've played a variant of this actually, with great success:

Boba (VI, Gunner, Inertial Dampeners, Engine)

IG-88B (VI, HLC, Advanced Sensors, Inertial Dampeners, Autothrusters)

100 points

PILOTS

IG88-B (50)
Aggressor (36), Predator (3), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Glitterstim (2), Autothrusters (2)

Boba Fett (50)
Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Ion Bombs (2), Tactician (2), Glitterstim (2), Engine Upgrade (4)

I like this version, although using FCS on IG-88B and then either Crackshot or VI is just as reasonable. Advanced Sensors is nice, but not 100% necessary.

Glitterstim is great. Tactician with expanded arcs is super handy, and Ion Bomb at PS10 is good times.

Gosh. Thanks for the replies guys, but that's given me even more to consider!!

What do you mean by Advanced Sensors being unnecessary? Seems like a great way to token up when you need to and let's you still buff yourself when you do the inevitable Segnor's loop. Predator is good though, I can definitely see that. Do you think Push the Limit doesn't work well on IGs then?

Here's one more for you. I've been flying this for about 2 months. It can handle most things. Boba boosts into range one and pops the Glitterstim, while IG sits back and uses his HLC. It can usually kill or severely damage an enemy ship in the first round of firing without taking many hits in return. If you don't care about the initiative bid, then put a Seismic Charge on Boba. But VI Poe is very popular in my meta, so I like the initiative bid.

Boba Fett (Scum) (39)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Tactician (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)

IG-88B (36)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Glitterstim (2)
Autothrusters (2)

Total: 98

That looks like a really interesting list to fly Bowser. Thanks for the input!

Do you find that the IG has enough survivability in this set up? I tend to get worried when I'm not turtled enough... I suppose offense is the best defense with these bounty hunters though!

Yes, because I run Boba right into the enemies face. He usually takes a damage or two, and most people are reluctant to change targets. So as they chase Boba. This results in Boba is firing back at them, while IG swoops in behind. I finish many games with IG still at full health. If my opponent does go for IG, it is pretty easy to do a three bank and boost away. Then regroup with IG while Boba is hammering them.

You also have Glitterstim on IG, if he gets in a bad spot and will be taking multiple shots. Pop it, and he should weather the storm.

The key is to make sure Boba and IG can both hit the same target in the first round of firing.

2 ship lists have to decide if they want to be tanky, offensive, or 1 of each. Make a ship too tanky and your opponent will just burn down your buddy, knowing that you can't really fight back. Too offensive, and you risk being the burnee.

I like tactician/Stim on boba over gunner because he adds some control to a list that needs to limit some of the attacks it will face. Stressed ships generally aren't slooping/kturning behind you, which gives your IG some breathing room. I like Bowser's list of the ones I've seen, but have also had fun with a similar Boba, and IGB with Pred/Jammer/Thrusters/Mangler. The jammer really helps keep IG88 alive when they are stressed from the Fett. Not quite as offensive minded, but survives better.

My list above was my best guess at how you'd run the list these days, but it sounds like you have practice flying it. You think the 2pt bid is worth more than the Ion Bomb on Boba?

I guess it depends on the amount of Poe in your area, but your post seems to indicate that you can get them to chase Boba fairly often, which is a spot where I feel like the Ion Bomb is definitively going to pull its weight.

Just seems like a very solid 2pts, when you factor in both PS10 and Tactician. Your thoughts?

Some really helpful posts here guys, I'm seeing once again the value of Tactician and Glitterstim on Boba. Unfortunately, I have a tendency to try lists once or twice and then just chuck them in the bin because they didn't perform well. There is a lot to be said for sticking to one or two ships and learning to fly them really well. Thank you for the tactical advice on this too, Bowser and Mezegis.

Intrigued by the option of the Ion Bomb but there does seem to be tangible value in a 2-point initiative bid. I really wouldn't want Poe moving after me... Having said that, with R2 on him and if you've applied some pressure early, he does become a little more predictable and, without barrel roll, he's not the nippiest or tricksiest ace out there. Intrigued to see what the verdict is here.

I'd prefer the Init bid over the Ion bomb. Fett REALLY wants Poe moving first, so he can boost into range1/2 depending on what you want out of the attack. I have had it the other way and Poe was able to arc dodge 2 shots from Fett, and then win the battle of attrition between them as they just went blow for blow once Fett was weak.

I find I get a lot more success out of Mangler cannon than HLC on my on IG88-B. If a dodgy ship gets within range 1 you lose your pilot ability with HLC. At range 1 with mangler you open with a 4-dice primary weapon attack and if it misses you follow up with mangler cannon. Plus those face up damage cards can give Soontir fits.
