Random Factor Cards

I have been working on an optional extra to our group’s upcoming league play. I have made a set of cards (22 so far) that can optionally be added to a game in order to add a bit of a twist to the normal 400-point scenario. When a pair of players prepares to play a league game, if both of them agree, they can draw one of these cards at random and apply its effect to their game. What I have tried to do is add extra factors that are subtle enough to not utterly skew a game and add an additional element to keep the game interesting. Most of the cards are yellow background which means that they affect both players equally. A few cards are red (favoring the Rebels) and a few are green (favoring the Empire). Our league games will allow blue on blue games so it is possible that a red or green card will end up having no effect or affecting both players. You can get a PDF of this work in progress here.

On the back of each card I intend to add the following brief guidelines:

  • Both players build your fleet including the three Objective Cards.
  • Determine who will be First Player.
  • Only if both players agree, draw one of these cards at random and implement its effects into your game.

Warning: These cards may change setup, Objectives, point values, or have other effects on normal game play.

I would welcome any feedback, or suggestions for additional cards since I have about used up my quota for ideas this month.
