Who do you target first in a Chewbo list?

By 2Hard, in X-Wing

Pretty std list

Chewie with 3PO, Han and stuff

Leebo with HLC, outrider, recon spec

Very powerful and durable.

Me throwing 3-4 red dice with 2 big ships.

Do you go the big ship with a certain evade or the less hp with 2 green dice?

Interested to hear other peoples approach as I'm no expert!

I tend to go for leebo first. Chewie has less consistent offensive damage output and will die slower vs leebo Hlc with focus. Hopefully then you have 2 v 1 to grind chewie down

Tactically as well either being in range 1 of leebo obviously or bumping chewie can help. If you've only 2 ships you want to be taking the least shots possible

Of course it also depends on your list. Who's the bigger threat to your list? Could you quite easily stay in r1 of leebo forever and take potshots at chewie? Or does your list want to be at longer range so hlc is greater threat?

The face of the guy who puts it on the table :P

TBH it doesn't really matter. Both ships are relatively similar in how dangerous they are. Attack whoever gives you the best opening.

Leebo, he's much much softer. and he deals MOAR damage.

YT 3700 lists are....simplistic in their approach...

Need to know what stuff...

Chewie with 3PO, Han and stuff Falcon
Leebo with HLC, outrider, recon spec
This is already 95 pts - the last 5 is impt. I'd choose the first most exposed and burn it.

Ideally, kill the one without the donut hole first, because donut holes are easier to kill safely - but that's with my normal lists.

But honestly, target of opportunity, they're both pretty much of a muchness, and flown defensively can easily protect the donut hole with the 1300.

It also depends a lot on your list.

Leebo every time.

Much softer and much more dangerous. With focussed fire and half decent dice Leebo can go down in a couple of turns. Fat Chewie can take 4x that.

I fly my man Rexler he don't care about eithers ability they are both dead meat.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good point Higgo about bumping and donuting. I am leaning towards Leebo. Get that HLC off the board and hope I have 2 ships left to take on chewie

Pancakes for breakfast!

Leebo's the primary target- he doesn't have 3p0.

I've flown against Leebo (+ Determination, which I didn't see in the OP but I assume is there) only once, but when I did, he pulled a Major Hull Breach on the first round of hull damage and consequently almost half of the damage I did to him for the rest of the game was discarded.

If that happened in a tournament, it's almost a given that the game's going to time. It's a hard call whether to stick on Leebo then or switch to the less threatening but also less durable Chewie.

Last time I faced this I had 5x Autothruster Alpha and I just nuked Leebo because even with Determination he was easier to kill, and he was also in range 1 of more of my Interceptors.

My opponent then pretended to enjoy the game as he autolost.

I find this a herp derp of the 4 TLT's... ie have 2 ships without much thinking going into the flying of them

Chewie has to die first. A ship with Threepio becomes more and more difficult to kill as your side loses ships, so you need to burn through Chewie while you have the greatest ability to concentrate firepower.

I would recommend going for Chewbacca first. Leebo with a Recon Specialist can be tough to take down quickly.

I ran Chewie/Predator/C3PO with Leebo/Predator/title/HLC/Recon for some time and I would usually win if people went for Leebo first. Chewie is then free to brawl close-range where he gets 4 red dice with Predator and focus (I did not take the MF title because I feel you need gunner/Luke if not taking focus). Leebo is really effective from range 3 because of the HLC so he is hard to close in on if Chewie is there to block. Much easier to get into the donut hole if Leebo is the only pilot left.

I guess Chewie/Leebo is somewhat like the 4xTLT lists because people would really frown upon it.

Leebo probably also has determination?

I'll echo Vorpal's thoughts. However, if Chewie doesn't have gunner and I have multiple AT interceptors (usually I fly two) I'm okay going after whichever gives me the best target since Chewie really struggles to get damage through on a turtled interceptor.

You do need to make sure it is two ships that can outposition him and are resilient to his attacks. What are you running?

I feel like Chewie is the better bet, because you could waste turns on Leebo if his evade dice work out well. If that happens, then you're likely down a few ships, with little to no damage on either of your opponents. And if your dice are so cold you can't get much of anything through to a 1 agility ship, then chances are you weren't gonna win this one anyway and it won't matter what you did.
