This is a change, a sensible and purposeful PSA for once. What times we live in.
Recent topics made it feel like it needed saying.
My biggest issue. Is when people try to insert their own style into the rules.
Like the 'if you don't attack my ships in the first 3 rounds you're breaking the rules' type argument.
order of operation is correct. love it

i fly by PEMDAS (math) at all times. that is my 'casual' if a trigger is missed and the state of the game has continued, thats that. i miss triggers all the time, and so do my opponents, we usually discover them together as we realize we missed them, never have i done it maliciously, but stuff happens.

This whole, "Come on dude, it's a **** move to do X" where X is something legal and within the game needs to stop.

He's not saying don't do x, He's saying do what you want. If you don't want to do x then don't unless not doing it is illegal then do it. if people want to be "nice" to their opponents then it's to their detriment (potentially).

You shouldn't be nice to your opponent, this is a competitive game. What is with this game's community and being a bunch of pansy asshats? How come every discussion needs to be a hugbox and every game you have to "fly casual" and allow your opponent to take an entire 5 minutes to slow play and decide dials? "Go out of your way to intentionally fly poorly, whatever makes you happy dude just my two cents. Don't listen to PGS it's just his /opinion/ and all opinions are equal and no one is ever wrong."
You have to understand that I'm only talking about tournament games here.

I don't disagree with you. I wouldn't ever come here seeking moral advice on a game decision and I don't get why people do. What I like about Darius' thread title is the do what you will aspect. If people are solely asking about if they broke a rule then fine but that should be the end of it. Granted it is open to discussion but nobody should disparage your opinion either.
Edited by McFoyFirst Golden Rule : We all are playing a game. This is a game. Only a game. A superb game...but a game.
I'm dry on likes, but McFoy has nailed the intent. Play however you **** well want to play, but try to follow the rules. Everything else doesn't matter ultimately.
As an RPG'er let me pose this.
Are you a pilot who flies with the WW1 style charm and chivalry, where you won't finish an opponent at a serious advantage, or are you a ruthless soldier who gets the quick kill and moves on?
There are no wrong answers, unless they are forbidden by the rules of the game.

As long as there are no chess clocks there's also no slow play! I'm sick of that slow play crap, there's no fixed rule about what slow play really is (especially during the planning phase - I can see that executing the maneuvers or rolling dice shouldn't take longer during the course of the game, when number of ships and options get less!). Having the TO decide is ridiculous at best - he will always decide in favour of friends/local heroes etc.
I've been at a tourney a few weeks ago where a pal played against the current national champion. That "champion" was really taking his time with his dials, carefully planning etc. Which was perfectly fine. Then there were less than 10 minutes left, and he was behind on points (would have been modified win for my pal), and all the sudden that champion got in speed mode, constantly complaining about the slow play of my pal because he took his time on planning and setting dials (still the same speed that he was during the whole game, though). So much about slow play, folks (the champion went into the cut, but didn't win the tournament).
And that concludes another episode of Public Service Announcement by People Who Don't Publicly Represent Anyone.
What I don't get is why everyone expects the game to turn into a joust. My goal is to run away from the opponent, if that means 60 minutes of not shooting or taking damage and then the last round killing 1 ship , why do people get upset over it ...
