As a new player, I'm thinking about a XXX list. Assuming I want to run T70x2, who would be the best T65 pilot to join the squad? IA Biggs? Luke? PtL Wedge? I know that it also depends on who the other two pilots are but the T65 is where I am the most lost at this point. Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
Newb XXX question
Don't worry about xxx. Your body will know when it's ready
Would have to agree with your statement that it really depends on who you plan to fly in the 2 T-70's.
If you plan to build your squad around those two ships, they will dictate how many points you have left for the T-65.
Alternately, if you plan to build a squad around 1 T-65 and then intend to fill whatever points are left with any possible 2 T-70's, it makes it a little easier to throw out decent T-65 recommendations.
So, the question for you; is the T-65 your star you are building around, or is it your filler you are using up your remaining points on?
Tarn for a cheap 25 point tank
Biggs to annoy your opponebnt/distract of something shinier
Wedge with the right kit to be a pointsink but to hurt your opponent.
I generally like Biggs or Tarn these days, but batwedge can be good too.
Biggs with Integrated and the astro that makes it cancel down to 2 damage is pretty good.
Tarn needs R7.

Good questions.
Biggs + R4-D6 + Integrated Astromech is a fairly powerful game element in any Rebel list, but he's far from your only option. Figuring out what you're doing with the T-70s will tell you both what you need from the T-65 and how much you can afford to spend on it.
Also, when you get over 24 points, start asking yourself "Is this better than 2 z-95s, or 2 A-wings, or this A-wing pilot/combi..."
Or B-wing with FCS...
Or Stressbot. (y-wing with stress causing astromech, title and either ion or TLT).
Edited by DariusAPBTo be more serious, love of bb8 ptl asty + pressence of stresshog = integrAted Biggs (generally r4d6) always

Good Point. This is mostly a thought process at this point but with 3 ships on the board my theory is that they all have to pull their weight in one way or another. No real "filler" or "extra".
I'm trying to plan purchases for the near future. I definitely want to add Red Core to the TFA Core I have now. After that I'm trying to get a reasonable 100pt. squad for both Reb and Imps. I figure the T70 ex-pak is a must for IA alone and since I like the FO over the original TIE I figured I would get the FO x-pak as well for the awesomeness that is Juke. Of course it would mean skipping Howlrunner for now. Not a big fan of proxy cards but I see the need in some circumstances. Also, while I think the GR75 is an awesome set I don't see its purchase in my near future. So no Tarn, no R3A2, etc.
I'm envisioning classic X wing vs. TIE battles for now with a mix of old and new. (T70 x2 + T65) vs. (TIE x2 + TIE/FO x3) should be a decent game I hope.
P.S. In case it isn't obvious, I will be supplying all the X-wing for my regular gaming partners. It works out because other players do the same for other systems.
Thanks again for the help.

Nice. Since I was living near NYC 42nd St. in the late 80's and in Amsterdam in the early 90s you would think I would have XXX figured out by now but.....

With Poe flying, red ace tend to be underestimated, but with coms & juke is a very dangerous damage dealer in the middle-end game, even against enemy aces.

Take 2 Z-95s instead of Biggs. They're less than his cost, and harder to kill both. + when you use one as a blocker, you're not giving up a powerful attack.
Z-95s are just the best. Much like how in universe they replace the T-65, in this game, they are also better!

Come on, we have been shortening all kinds of alphabet-soup lists that way since for ever. The only one responsible for your dirty mind is yourself (and FGD) ![]()

Actually this is a fairly difficult list to fly well as it requires specific positioning to work well and quite a bit of luck.
1. Poe has to strip the focus for red ace to proc juke
2. they have to get a shield off red (or you do) to proc juke prior to red firing
3. and they cant shoot you enough that you feel the need to spend the evade token.
4. Its even more tricky because you have biggs soaking damage (biggs is not actually all that easy to use effectively, for most lists I would actually call him wasted points).
There are so so so many better builds out there for xxx, regen poe (r5p9), regen red (r2d2), and tarn (r7) is much easier to fly and much more forgiving.
My personal favorite is regen poe, regen red, bb8 blue ace.
Edited by Luke CI went up against a Hobbie w/ Targeting Astro an IA the other day. It was kinda awesome. Obviously it's a gimicky list where he wants to K turn as much as possible, but as soon as he K turns, he acquires a TL via TA and clears his stress. Then he can take a Focus as his normal action. As such, he ends with TL+F often. And it's great against tactician, rebel captive and to a lesser extent R3-A2 since he can clear stress spending the TL as well.
Actually, if you get lucky with Red Ace, the first round can buy you an Evade token over an asteroid. Not always successful, but it's worth the attempt...
Bah... you were using the EPT Droid? Nah... R2-D2 all the way with Red Ace!
Edited by GrayfaxRemember, when flying XXX it's never a bad idea to pull out and go again later.
(sorry)
It's what Wedge would do.
Edited by DariusAPBOkay newb this is how it works, when an engineer and a designer respect each other very much they snuggle and a few months later a prototype is made.
Most prototypes grow up to be big strong snubfighters but some are mischievous and don't recharge when their supposed to or wash behind their s-foils and those prototypes grow up to be E-wing's.
So be good or you'll grow a cannon in an odd place.
Gotcha. Since you are going to be sharing and supplying all the ships and other components for you and your friends to play I agree with your notion of buying another original core set. This will ge you better sharing options for sure. Since the core comes with Luke, and you want a pilot who pulls his weight, try Luke with R2-D2 and draw their fire. He can be a good guy to have in a 3 X formation. It also helps to know you will be fling against TIE fighters only for your fun games.
