Thorne has distinguished himself as a moron in both the books and show.
If I thought it was possible to make it spoiler-free until WoW was released I would totally do it. But the Internet is dark and...
Thorne was actually starting to win me over in series five - he fought like a beast to protect Castle Black at the end of season four, and although he's always held his grudge against Snow, he didn't complain or argue with the decision to appoint him Lord Commander, he didn't try and protect Janos Slint or even offer any excuses for him, and he gave Snow a grudging show of respect when he came back from Hardhome (albeit in a "I still think you're wrong" kind of way). But then, the knife.
He only failed to intervene because he knew Jon actually wanted his head I think.
A trailer that makes all other trailers wet their pants.

Awesome new trailer.
I love Tyrion's line. "That's what I do, I drink and I know things."
Looks like a lot of large battles coming this season.
So was Tyrion's line an intentional double entendre, or a Freudian slip?
That trailer was amazing. I don't like the line about thinking he was the lad to lead us through the long night, though...

Davos? I dunno. Upon re-viewing it, I think the line is actually "I thought he was the man to lead us through the long night," so now I'm wondering if the speaker was talking of Mance Rayder. (In which case, the speaker might be Giantsbane {not the right name}. Hmm, or it could be Davos speaking of Stannis?)
Edited by WarriorPoetI thought Davos speaking of Stannis, but obvious misdirection to Jon.
But hearing it again I am not sure that is Davos speaking. Could be Tormund.
I have to admit that I don't get that excited about GoT tv show anymore. I just want the next book to come out.
This this this. Mr. R. R. Martin, if you're reading this .. Stop reading this and write a flipping book!!!
...and her dragons burned the white walkers to ash. And Sansa and Daneris lived happliy together ever after.
The end.

It definitely sounded like Tormund, and the fact that you see him while the voice is talking its likely him. He could be talking either about Mance or Jon Snow. It also could be what he says when he first hears of Jon getting Caesar'd. Doesn't mean our beloved bastard is gone for good.

I sort of felt this way the first time through. Second time through I really enjoyed a lot of details that seemed inconsequential the first time.

I'm completely the opposite way round. The book series turned into a raging dumpster fire following A Storm Of Swords. Six page descriptions of every last meal, indeed.
I agree with this. I read the last books again last year and really did enjoy them more. I did it after reading the big folio about the Game of Thrones. You know, the one with all the history in it? Well, all that mumbling about the old cities along the river while he ate were a lot more interesting.
Every time I've read the books I end up picking up on something I haven't noticed before. I've read the first three books three times and I noticed something new each time. The same goes for the last few books. Going back to read them and then reading the chapters that were previewed have me excited. Some big battles about to commence in the books. One with Tyrion and Danny's city is one and told from a few perspectives, including the white cloak guy (who isn't dead). I'm sure Stannis is going to win his battle against those in Winterfell. At least the first one. Man....I can't wait!
I've just started listening to the audiobooks, and I'm already noticing more than when I first read them - sign of a great book! (Or a poor reader...)

Sometimes an audiobook can be the better option: I for one can't get myself to read more than a few pages of "American Psycho", but the audiobook Is great.
I worry with an audio book on GoT that I'll miss all the little detail about last names and secondary (or lower) characters. That's where I love some of the details that I miss before. Some guy with green apples does something something, but if you pay attention, you kind of get a better picture of events when you know all the shifting parts.
Also, there are the Egg and Dunk comics that are good, too. You learn why there are Red and Green Fossoways.
But the way Roy pronounces "Brienne" nearly gives me a migraine.
Ugh, so true. That's one thing I think the show got right for sure...
Heychadwick, I'm more so finding details that I'd forgotten as I listen to the audiobook (and the occasional, "Oh, I missed that the first time around). At least, that's the ratio right now, early in Game of Thrones. I'm pretty sure by the time I get to Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons, I'll be catching loads more "new" stuff, since I blazed through those the first time I read them at a pace that would put Shadowfax to shame.
