Hi all,
Putting together an epic list with the transport and looking at targeting coordinator. The text reads: Energy: You may spend 1 energy to choose 1 friendly ship at Range 1-2. Acquire a target lock, then assign the blue target lock token to the chosen ship.
The transport does not have the target lock action in its action bar, but the FAQ clearly specifies that acquiring a target lock is different from performing an acquire target lock action, so I presume that the transport can make use of the targeting coordinator even without the action in its bar.
What I can't figure out is what "acquire target lock" means. The target lock action allows you to acquire a target lock on an enemy ship at range 1-3 (paraphrasing, because I'm too lazy to look up the exact wording). But as the FAQ states, "acquire target lock" is different from a target lock action.
So, here are some possible interpretations of "acquire target lock" in this context:
- The transport can acquire a target lock on an enemy ship at range 1-3 of the transport, and assign the blue token to a friendly ship at range 1-2.
- The transport can acquire a target lock on an enemy ship at range 1-3 of the chosen friendly ship, and...
- The transport can acquire a target lock on an enemy ship at ANY range, and...
Unless I'm missing something, the third option seems most correct under the rules-as-written, but it feels wrong.
I looked up the rules reference, and again, the only range restriction on target locking is for the acquire target lock action.
Thoughts?
