Ooh, the BOLS guys have got to be freaking out.
40K no longer the top dog.
All this GW hate and I'm just sitting here wondering where Warmachine and Hordes would be if they where combined into one unit. Because lets face it they really are just 1 game/system/whatever.
Nowhere, because de facto they already are, and nobody gives a **** about them being de jure separate xD
He means in terms of sales rankings, because these charts are the only place where they are ever treated separate.
Also, yes, this is the big question that is asked every single time the chart comes out; though I suspect the answer is probably that it sits right where it is. It might jump up over Armada, but I suspect X-Wing and 40K are in something of a league of their own.
How do they even know how much of what sells? GW in particular has always been very tight with information. I could see maybe getting information from regional distributors but I doubt GW is giving them all the info on their direct and internet sales. So, how accurate are these reports?

The information is not from GW and doesn't include sales through GW stores or it's website. It tracks reported sales from independent retailers. It's not the complete story, but it is a revealing indicator.
I'm still curious about "Warhammer" is 40k + AoS, or if "Warmachine" it's online warmachine, or like before, is indeed warmahordes. In other ICv2 warmachines and hordes appear separated, but also does 40k and AoS/Fantasy, like in "http://icv2.com/articles/games/view/23501/top-5-non-collectible-miniature-lines-spring-2012"
I'd be shocked if they combined 40k and AoS but kept X-Wing and Armada separate. Warmachine and Hordes are also generally kept separate largely because they're tracked separately in retail information.

That's what I think, I suppose that in the present ICv2 "warhammer" is actually "WH40k", but i was surprised this time, when I see it named in these way, only "warhammer", for the first time if I remember correctly.
I love 40k for the painted models. I love painting and putting together the guys. The fluff is cool. The game is fun.
I love Xwing for the game, the models are ok. The ruleset and pricepoint are great.
The best thing that Xwing has going for it compared to 40k is that all the models are prepainted. Having to paint your own is something I do anyway, but I understand most don't.
Accessibility is a thing. I think its definitely a case where we're not seeing a shift in the audience as much as a point of entry for a new demographic.
ICv2's "Internal Correspondence" #89 is out (the ones that does the "top 5 non-collectible miniatures games" list for US retailers) and the top five list is now:
1. X-Wing
2. 40k
3. Armada
4. Warmachine
5. Attack Wing
If right that's pretty great for ffg and down right terrible for GW.
Where is Age of Sigmar on that list? Oh wait.... ![]()
More sales on Armada than Warmachine ???? Hard to believe
They tend list Warmachine and Hordes as separate games. Which as anyone who knows the game knows that to be false
As a long time Warhammer Fantasy nerd, this news pleases me a great deal. What GW did to Fantasy was ruin a great gaming system, maybe they did the same to 40K.
Final Chaos victory. That was the only good thing to come out of the endtimes...

Life death and rebirth man... the end being a new beginning is truly a chaos victory.
Deathwatch overkill is steep but looks like an updated space hulk.
So far looks better than that assassin one. And we got Genestealer cults back!
Genecults and harlequins! Some of my most fave (non-chaos) factions! To bad they get shot up/killed by all the OP stuff

Also in AOS it's revealed that the only reason chaos didn't win twice in a row is that Khorne, at the final moment instead of attacking sigmars realm, went: "Surprise mothafukka!" and turned on the other chaos gods. Probally yelling : "Hey Tzeentch, I can do this betrayal thing to!" ![]()
AOS wouldn't be so bad if it had point costs, and rules, and no spezmahreens and no naked dwarves!*
* seriously GW has problems with Slaanesh demons being nekkid chicks and they give us an entire army of dwarven buttcrack? Dafuq?
Edited by Robin GravesMy favorite reaction to AoS was:
"This is not a game by any definition I'm comfortable with"

It really sais it all doesn't it? I mean how bad does a game have to be that you would voluntarily burn down your entire collection? Not give them to your buddy. Not sell them on E-bay. Not throw them away. No, he made the aditional effort to BURN THEM.
I try not to judge. YouTube is basically a giant collection of irrational decisions from people of questionable stability. I do appreciate the sentiment, and the willingness to not attempt to foster that pain upon another through eBay.

Nah, 40K is still alot of fun but it's still a huge $$$ sink, and you have to play against friends and agree on the kind of game you want to play. Tournament level cheese is as big a friendship ruiner as a game of 'Diplomacy'
You guys gotta keep in mind that this is retailers reporting. I doubt if GW stores are ponying up info or GW website / online retailers either.
My guess is that sales are just fine for 40K and AoS (which isn't all that bad...Fantasy whiners...geesh...)

I love how none of the current apologists are retorting anything regarding invisibility spam, formations, crooked allies etc.
Some things are just indefensible, eh?
I'm sorta ok with most of that stuff, becuz of years of playing MTG and the occasional D&D munchkining. (I'm the type of guy who would come up with a canonically sound background as to why my genestealer cult has Imrial Knight allies...)
Oddly enough the one thing (the one thing!) that trips me up is Azrael leading packs of Wulfen (for the extra moves etc.)
Dark angels and space wolves working together? Uh uh. No. To me thats as bad as Bloodangels/Necrons.

the level of FAIL GW spit out in the storm of chaos campaign that was supposed to "have great impact on lore"
and where chaos sucked harder than scyk!

It did have a great impact on lore: It wiped it all out! ![]()
I liked clan Pestilens going back to lustria for round two... I liked we finally got to see some more of the isle of the dead and the widowmaker. I liked Sigvald vs Krell. Aaaaaaaaaaaand then the skaven blew up the moon and more crazy sh*t happened and then GW blew it all up.

Actually, tournament level 40k is quite fun, as long as everyone is on board with the premises(that maybe about 10% of the models are competitively viable and more than half of the codexes simply are not competitive). Between competitive lists, 40k is quite balanced (although too dice dependent for my taste). Except Eldar. Eldar is over the top atm.

Part of this is just the arcade mindset I grew up on, but to me the quality of a game is measured on its ability to play against complete strangers. Even when playing with my best of friends, I'd just as soon trust the game than try to coerce them into playing "fair". The best games are the ones in which tournament play still feels pretty casual.
