Pilot abilities you'd like to see

By debiler, in X-Wing

A scum pilot ability I'd love to see.

"When attacking, you may treat the Attack: Target Lock header as Attack: Stress. If card with this header would require you to spend a target lock, spend a stress token instead."

"When you perform a boost action, you may use the rear pegs of this ship's base. If you do, you must usethe front pegs."

Basically loopings.

I'm not understanding this at all. I can use the rear pegs for my boost, but if I do, I have to use the front pegs? So ... I just boost normally then?

i think he meant use rear pegs, then put the front pegs in to the back of the template. just boosting backwards.

I know you're looking for Pilot abilities, but I was thinking of this as maybe an illicit slot, or perhaps an EPT

Retro-Rockets - Cost 3 (small ship only)

ACTION: Perform a boost using the rear guides on your ship's base. Receive a stress token, then discard this card.

Being able to boost backwards would prove interesting. I kind of imagine it a la Top Gun, hitting the brakes and watching someone fly right past. Cost might be off, but I'm shocked we haven't seen this as an actual upgrade or pilot skill yet. We've already got 2 ships with the stop maneuver on their dials, as well as White K-Turns, S-Loops, and Tallon Rolls. This just seems like a given at some point.

I really want this to exist, but given that Inertial Dampeners already do, I find it unlikely.

I'd maybe see it being 'if you performed a manoeuvre of speed 3 or greater this round, Action:' - you have to bhe going at a decent speed for slamming on the brakes to help...

For a Scyk: "your secondary weapon attacks are affected by range bonuses."

You might scoff at it on a mangler, and wince with it on an HLC... But that 6-die proton torpedo and 4-die autoblaster might just count as compensation. ;-)

Immediately after you perform a green maneuver you may rotate your ship 90 degrees in either direction.

Immediately after you perform a green maneuver you may rotate your ship 90 degrees in either direction.

When you execute a manoeuvre (maybe only a green amnoeuvre) you may place your ship so that the template is to the right or left of the nubs, rather than between them.

Manoeuvres with a part-barrel roll built in.
