Projection Experts and Redemption.

By Kiwi Rat, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Can you use the Projection Experts and Redemption. tiitle upgrade card on the same ship that it's based on?

Or can the above abilltiy only be granted to another friendly ships at distance 1-5 ???

We had a minor debate about it when we played SC last sunday, and in the end it really didn't matter as the opposing Neb-B in the following turn "bumped" into my MC80 and died from the collision.

But it would be nice to know if you can or can't do the above.

"When a friendly ship" includes itself, "When Another friendly ship" excludes itself. Redemption works on the ship it is placed on as it states "When a friendly ship at distance 1-5 bla bla bla"

Projection Experts : " You may spend up to 2 engineering points to move that many shields from your ship to another friendly ship" means it cannot spend the points to move shields to itself via the upgrade.

TheEasternKing has the right of it here...

The Redemption bonus works on everyone - Redemption itself...

But Projection Experts can't transmit shields from itself to itself :)

On the other hand, you can spend any number of enginering points to move that many shields around the ship performing the repair command any way so it realy doesn't mater much that you can't specificaly use the projection experts to do it :)

Has the Projection Expert upgrade card been changed?

Because the wording does not include the Another ship in the phrase, instead its A ship , that is used.

And when you want to move shields its only to an adjacent hull zone you may move a shield to, not one to a hull zone on opposite side of the ship, which in many or some cases can be very usefull.

Which my opponent did in the game we played, using the Projection Experts.

That said, for the particular case OP is asking about, the critical still prevents using this on yourself, because the "cannot" statement encompasses what you're trying to use PE for:

"Capacitor Failure x2 - Ship - If a hull zone has no remaining shields, you cannot recover shields in it, nor move shields to it, if that hull zone is defending, you cannot spend redirect tokens." (taken from the BGG thread, so may not be 100% accurate)

And when you want to move shields its only to an adjacent hull zone you may move a shield to, not one to a hull zone on opposite side of the ship,

Incorrect:

RRG 3 COMMANDS

Move Shields: Spend one point to move one shield

by reducing one of the ship’s hull zone’s shield

dials by one and then increasing another of its

hull zone’s shields by one (without exceeding its

maximum shield value).

Yeah, not sure where you guys are getting the "another" wording here:

I can see that the whole adjacent hull zone thing, is a hangover/habit from when you use the Redirect defence token.

Nice to know, that you can freely move shields to any hull zone on your ship, using the repair command. ;)
