Not sure if this combo works...
Take a focus for my action, then using Deadeye, spend the focus to fire Proton Torpedoes, would I then be able to spend the target lock (thanks to R4) on this same attack?

I can't see any reason why not. It's not a bad combo for that.
Thanks, I wasn't sure exactly when the R4 would trigger.

R4 triggers immediately after spending the focus token to fire the torpedoes. You resolve R4 by gaining a target lock on the defender before progressing to dice rolling and modifications. Like I said, not bad. ![]()

It triggers even if you spend the focus token during the dice modification step. So you can roll attack, spend a focus token (you can do that even if you did not roll any focus), and you can immediately spend the target lock. Definitely not bad.

It's fantastic. With proton torps and that combo, along with guidance chips, you have a better than 75% of rolling four hits!

Specifically, you have a 90.2% chance of rolling 4 hits.
This combo will do work.
Just remember the only [eye] modification you have is the one built in to Proton Torpedoes (well and Chimps, but that's not limited to eyes). You can't use your Focus token for modification if you spent it for Deadeye, is what I'm saying.
Still a great combo.
Ive been thinking about doing something similar with R4 focusing on survivability with TEL TREVURA
TEL TREVURA (30)
Deadeye (1)
Extra Munitions (2)
Proton Torpedoes (4)
"Gonk" (2)
R4 Agromech (2)
Guidance Chips (0)

Why Manaroo? You aren't really doing thing that takes advantage of her ability.
Edited by WWHSDMeant TEL TREVURA. Ill update the post.
You'd be better making the crew a Recon Spec. That way you've got a focus to fire, plus the TL and another focus to modify the attack.

Not necessary if you're using Protons due to their inbuilt mini-Focus. Between that, Guidance Chips and the Target Lock you have a 90% chance of 4 hits as it is.
Doesn't sound like it should work. You spend the TL/Focus in order to perform the attack, not during the attack itself.
edit: Nevermind, was looking at an old version of the FAQ, looks like it works.
