New to X-wing, First list attempt

By Jasmol81, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So just wanted some suggestions. I do see a lot of lists, and really like the thinking and skill everyone puts into their squads and looking at the "chess" style of play, anticipating what the other guy is going to do, or balancing squad to compete against specific groups.

Roark Garnet - TLT, Chewie, Shield Upgrade

Gold Sqd - TLT, R5-P9

Warden Sqd - TLT, Extra Munitions, Conner Net, Prox Mine, Adv SLAM

I came up with this with the thought of using first combat for advantage when I'm in a location to do so, and then using the net and mines to mess with the enemy pilots. The TLTs on all three ships give me the ability to fire in any direction. The plan would be to keep the HWK and Y flying together and using green maneuvers and keep the K within range of the Roark to use the first attack ability if need be. Chewie and the shield upgrade are to help keep the HWK up as long as possible.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Assuming you want to keep those ships that you posted i would change it to:

Kyle Katarn

TLT, Jan Ors, Moldy Crow

//Your HWK tried to be fat turret, that COULD work i dont say no, but i would shift it more towards support role. If you drop extra munitions on miranda (that is perfectly viable) switch //Jan for Recon Specialist.

Gold Squadron

TLT, R3-A2,BTL-A4

//AKA the stresshog. R5-P9 wont work much cause you will spend that focus on TLT shots anyway. This way you can ditch some stress to enemy. Or if you want to stick to turreted version drop droid and title and field it with just TLT. 2 points free for RecSpec on HWK

Miranda

TLT, Extra Munitions, Proximity, Advanced Slam

//i would drop the bombs altogether a stick to TLTin your enemy to death :) TLT and Jan Ors would do nice, your Kwing can life much then.

Thank I appreciate the feedback. I didn't really thing about the R5, that switch makes a lot of sense. So I plugged in your suggestions, getting rid of the bombs, cause that would allow me some more flying space, and not have to worry about hitting my own stuff. With Jan on Miranda and Recon on Kyle, it leaves me 2pts to play with.

VI on Kyle and you got yourself a solid TLT spam list.

I wouldn't worry about hitting yourself with action-drop mines.

As to your list, I think your original list was better, all around. Although I agree that R5-P9 is not going to help much. You don't need the stresshog if you have a conner net for control, but you could put R3-A2 on the y-wing anyway, but without the title. This gives less control in your arc, but you don't give up the 360 damage potential. 3 360 turrets is better than 2, afterall.

Chewbacca + shield means your Hawk is actually more durable than a y-wing. The only thing about the list I don't like is the proximity mine. You could drop it for 'bomb loadout' plus either a seismic or ion bomb on the y-wing. That gives you 2 ships that can scare enemies away from your Range 1 zone...
