Too optimistic to think Imperial Veterans will come out close to Wave 8?

By Mr Slippery, in X-Wing

Kinda feel wave 8 for imperial is a bit meh.

But thanks to the upcoming Defender and Bomber awesomeness I am absolutely fine with this, as I'm sure many people are.

One supplier around here has March 29th listed as the release date. Not sure if it is accurate, though.

I agree, hence why I was hoping it would be released near to its stated release date. I guess it would actually be nice just to have accurate release dates but then that might stop all the preamble chatter while we wait....

Well, I don't know for sure when they'll get here but I do know that I'll have two of them: my FLGS was already taking preorders. I have added an extra die to my excitement roll.

Imperial veterans will come just after Assault Gunboat is announced :P

Guidance Chip is going to do great things for the Tie Bomber before the Imp Vets comes out.

Also, the V1 is an awesome little ship with great action economy for even the generics. What's not to love? Oh, the Inquisitor isn't as good as Soontir Fel? Well, what is?

Conversely, I suspect it was announced rather earlier than it normally would have been, I understand there was a leak or something - so it might be longer than average.

I'm hoping I can play a Vets list at the Yavin open, but I'm not expecting to be able to.

The "leak" was just the normal retailer solicitation that gets sent to game stores. It's somewhat unusual that that went out before the article, but it's not privileged information.

Of course it should go much quicker, there are no new models to be approved by Lucasfilm.

Same can be said about Imperial Aces, but that was 7 months from announcement to release, same thing for Rebel Aces.

My prediction... I have no inside information.

May 4th Release of Rogue One/Rebel Vets tie-in

GenCon Release of Imperial Vets

GenCon Announcement of Wave 9

September Announcement of a Scum Vet/Aces box

December release of Rogue One/Revel Vets

Somewhere in there will be a Scum Epic ship too.

I can see it's benefits it just doesn't excite me. I'm comparing it to the rebel and scum releases which just seem to have so much more. I realise I'm asking too much, and perhaps because I see the Veterans expansion as more exciting to the point it has over shadowed the Inquisitor.

Also it seems to be another ship that has multiple pilots but you'll rarely use any of them apart from one, in this case the inquisitor.

Honestly Valen seems interesting and nasty and isn't cursed by having a bad pilot ability, horrible ps, or no ept so there's a possibility of some good play there.

I shall try to reserve judgement. I do fear any high cost 2 attack dice ship though...i do hope I'm wrong

Juke will certainly help him. Between that and the TLs, he has a decent chance of rolling two (or three, given that he's reasonably likely to get range 1 thanks to his ability) useful results and costing his enemy either a die or a token.

May 4th Release of Rogue One/Rebel Vets tie-in

RELEASE? lol-nope.

I could see potential for a reveal (and I find that unlikely as well - Rebel Aces weren't revealed until Imperial Aces was about to release), but certainly not a release for material supporting a December movie in May.

If you only look to see what will be playing at the top tables at Worlds in each wave, then I would think most waves are pretty boring.
