with a target lock and banked evade, Omega Leader promptly blanks his roll. That's just unmodified dice for ya

IG-88C returns fire with his heavy laser cannon, farting out 3 hits and a critical that cannot be turned to a hit due to Omega L's otherwise awesome ability

after the resulting green roll, evade spending, and crackshot counter, Omega L takes his only damaging shot of the whole day

Poor OL. I am not allowed to play him anymore, my son goes all Bossk Rage on me if he sees him on my side of the table.

When I say that unmodified dice suck, what I actually mean is that they cannot be relied upon. Unmodified dice carry Soontir players all the time when they get bumped.

Yeah, it's rough. My OL got toasted by an Academy in one game and then, as the last survivor against a wounded Kenkirk with Palpatine, Isarde, and Predator, ate unmodified blasts with 5 out of 6 green blanks iirc. A good game, but a day full of indignity for the guy.

he's basically empire's r3-a2 Y, except he kills aces himself instead of helping you kill them (and is the only tie fighter who will ever hit through thrusters, apart from Zeta L on a good day)

1v1, you have 0 dice modification against OL. Worse off, she still has an evade from Comm Relay, and Juke to turn one your evades into a focus, which you can't turn back. It's hard to hit her, and she plinks away at easily. Even in a 3-4 ship list, she's a nuisance that can turn into a big threat if not dealt with soon. Furthermore, she takes heat away from other ships.

funny thing, this was the first time OL ever took damage today in 6 games

OL got shot like twice before by chiraneau, but the lock on chira prevented any potential damage (hah! my ability's better!) and that's it. 6 games, no one bothered attacking OL unless he was the only available target

they detested deathrain and the poor guy died first in every game except for this one they hated Vader too, but vader's got 5 PS over deathrain here

fortunately, this left OL free to clean up without issue. I love this little tie and how he goes right through big bad poes, soontirs, vaders, igs whatever, and he was a huge help to Vader

OL gets better with fewer enemy ships. Yeah, he's bad against a swarm... but I finished off two Brobots with him yesterday. You get to modify dice... they don't! Its a matter of time before BOOM.

My experience with OL has been sort of similar: she's golden through a couple of games, and then suddenly she gets toasted in a single round.

Yep. Gunner's really your best chance if your locked by OL, as well, to push damage through.

Agreed. The First Order colours Punisher looks very nice...

Sometimes the green dice just screw you.

But, conversely, if you can fit a Stealth Device on OL, it's a solid investment if you can run him well, and it might have saved his butt in this situation.

It warms my heart every time this happens to Omega Leader. Sometimes if I am unnaturally happy for no reason at all I just assume that an omega leader has taken an HLC crit somewhere in the world.
