Greetings from the Sands, Evil-Smelling Brother-in-Law of a Camel!
If the tribe of Hida keep it that way they will soon invade Dragon territories
See you in the Sands !
Have you had your UPDATE today?
Well now you have!
Shouldn't the Iron Warriors and the Heavy Regulars be rather "uniquely unsuited" for fighting Shadow creatures rather than the forest battle conditions? As elite heavy infantry they should be more than fit for the described trench warfare and explosive duels.
Just asking .
Too much Kanpeki Win on this one
There is never enough Kanpeki win until the emipre is his and all his enemies are dead.
Speaking of Kanpeki win...
Another lore update!
Greetings from the Sands, Evil-Smelling Brother-in-Law of a Camel!
I must admit that I wasn't an admirer of the old Kanpeki, but in the last installment Kanpeki is so full of win.
At long last the arrogant, xenophobic slavers from Rokugan will fall.
Now, you will pay the price for your lack of vision! (insert evil laugh)
If only the Sparrow hadn't been eliminated, they would show the empire how to endure even this famine with dignity and pointless stories.
Clans of the Empire! Your ruin is at hand...
...with another fun-filled history update!
Pfffft.Typical Dragon, reading the GM notes and metagaming...

I've always taken Togashi for a powergamer in an ultra-meta version of L5R.
Shinjo was the only one trying to play fair and left the game. The GM had a gas killing off the other Kami one by one but couldn't shake the Toga-kun until Fu Leng's player went full Fu FU on him at the Second Day of Thunder.
Edited by ZarasuIs there, like, a map or something about how much territories the loyalists have and how big the Onyx Empire is?

That is under discussion. At least one of the GM staff has a proposed map drafted. However, there are concerns over whether one should exist at all.
Stay tuned.
Edited by ZarasuGreetings from the Sands, Evil-Smelling Brother-in-Law of a Camel!
I was wondering if the reason the Dragon tribe are the one hosting the Winter Court 5 is because they are the only one with enough food to spare.
Also I'm curious to learn why my sahir brothers are coming to this god forsaken lands.
See you in the Sands.

Curiosity.....
....killed the sand cat.
I'm suddenly remembering....weren't the naga supposed to have some sort of roll in all this?
The last history update is at hand. With a bonus fiction by Sean Fisk!
The Assistant Game Master application has been given its own topic here: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/224115-rpg-winter-court-5-assistant-game-master-application/
Will there be a cumulative summary of key points or should we look to reread previous "annual" summaries? For example: I didn't realize early on the significance of the Last Legion. What's the best way to see what's been going on with them?
Similarly, kind of extending the map question, will prospective players have a sense of the general conditions of their clans before applying? Obviously the Dragon are as fine as usual, but are the Lion barely holding on because of recent events, or just "no longer capable of offensive operations"? Those can be pretty far apart for a clan that, not so long ago, boasted the greatest army in the empire.

i think this was a known fact, but still baller that Kanpeki's spider got an invite, so representatives of the Onyx Empire can be played as well as Shibatsu's spider. that's some rich backstory there. looking forward to seeing how that plays out.

To be frank on key points, we intended the history blurbs to be the year by year summaries. The plan was to condense them enough that any play can peruse them, but long enough to enrich the backstory of this year's court. The Core Staff is comfortable with the balance we settled on.
We do have plans to make clan summaries before the game starts. Going into this project, part of our goal was to design a full-fledged Imperial Histories chapter (albeit an apocryphal one) to supplement the game. They are coming.
Round 2 of Ask the GM's Anything is now up.

Hello friends. We, the GM team for WC 5, are still looking for more AGMs to join our team. We have put a lot of time and effort into making this game happen for the community, and plan on continuing to do so until the end of the game. That being said, we could always use some help. A game of this scale requires facilitators to run smoothly, and we currently only have one new addition to the team. If you think you might want to AGM, by all means, apply. Your GM team will thank you.
A link to the application can be found here:
