I think the most annoying list I've played so far is Jyn Odan, Gideon, Han, 3PO, Maak and Chewbacca. He just keeps his figures in a block with Jyn in the front using distraction on Han and 3po with her natural cunning ability to make her almost impossible to shoot. Even if she rolls a blank. It was pretty annoying but I was able to counter it by changing my approach.

I love lists that stay in tight blocks. I think I Trampled over that exact list with a Bantha. Used Crush to kill Jyn, and Jundland Terror to finish of Gideon, 3P0, and Mak. The next turn was clean up of a very wounded Han and Chewie with my Nexu.

Yeah, for some reason I don't think we'll be seeing much of the Smuggler Ball squad in Regional tournaments this year!

I'm not so sure about the eStormtroopers being worse than eSnowtroopers. They aren't guaranteed a focus off the bat, though the odds are in their favor (just under 2/3rds if no defense). Once they are focused, they actually are just about equal in terms of damage output to eStormies against no defense, such as Banthas. Again Focused, they are better than unfocused eStormies against White dice, and much better against Black dice, WHEN THE REROLL ISN'T ACCOUNTED FOR. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to incorporate the effect of the Squad Training reroll, but I've found that to be mighty. Plus, getting Focused through Vader's Finest or through losses that can be replaced via Reinforcements makes eStormies significantly better.

eSnowies can be reinforced... .3 cost. Anything focused is better than anything unfocused. Versus black 3 eSnowies grant 2 focused characters and weaken two enemies, if it is 2/3rds chance. That number falls slightly versus black (1 in 6 anti-surge chance)... You can do this every round while you might get 1 free focus from losing a trooper.

The re-roll is significant... but I'd rather have rolling focuses and more of them throughout the game. Add in the extra HP per trooper to push each one into needing 2 above average 2-die attacks to take one down and I'm going to do more damage over time than you will because eSnowies will get, on average, more attacks before reinforcements. Anything you can do with Vader's Finest, I can do with eSnowies. But the point is, I don't need to waste those two points.

I hear y'all that more damage == more better in a shortened game, but I'd rather get that damage from more extra green dice over those three turns than from losing troopers and reinforcing them. Also, if it was just focus on that surge, I wouldn't argue as much, but the weaken is really good for crushing those white-rolling uniques... like Leia.

My Nexu LOVE Troopers of any type and Focus-generators...they're delicious.

But seriously, to the OP, Focus is NOT broken. It's really good, yes. And when something is really good you'll see all kinds of lists trying to get some. Broken would be only one list benefiting and steam-rolling everyone else. This is clearly not the case. Heck, Troopers had no luck in the two Store Championships I've attended. Mercs took both of those (and were VERY different lists from each other).

I should like to see some Scum an Rebel lists WITHOUT Gideon. ;- ) !
What do you think about a home rule that if you use Gideon your adversary could have Celebration as gift in his hand of cards (3 +1) ^ ?
Or if you bring Han Solo in a list you score 4 Vps ?
