Confused on Talisman Digital

By taemx, in Talisman

I recently purchased Talisman 4th edition revised and all expansions from Fantasy Flight games and love the system! Today, I decided to check if there was a digital version, as I heard there was. When I went on my phone, I saw Talisman Digital Edition on Google Play and proceeded to purchase it, however, I noted it was made by Nomad Games, but produced by Games Workshop. I was under the impression that FF had purchased Talisman from GW and revised the 4th edition. So I then assumed that there would be no expansions since this was clearly the non-revised edition, however again I was wrong, and all the current expansions are available for purchase. So now I'm really confused... Can someone explain to me what the digital version is??? Is it 4th edition revised, but GW still owns the rights to a digital version, however they use FF rule-set and expansions?

Also, one other thing, the game does not work on Android Galaxy Note 3. It forced closed and would not open whatsoever. I never even had the chance to play it. Don't worry, I sent a report, so hopefully it gets fixed, but for now I just got a refund since the digital version is clearly broken on phones.

I believe, I am not certain, FFG has the rights, but not ownership of Talisman. Games Workshop I believe has final or some say what FFG does with the game, again I am guessing here.

I also believe the digital version is indeed based on the FFG version, and have even answered some rule questions not officially put into FAQ's yet by FFG. Therefore sometimes when we have questions about a rule, and someone uses the Digital version for the answer, we must remember that the Digital version is not the official FAQ for the board game, but it can help bring clarity nonetheless.

The Digital version also has content the board game doesn't have, and while the digital version seems to be following the board game expansions, it doesn't have all the expansions yet.

Its just like a gaming group with the only assess to the gaming board and tokens making their own house rules with a very popular gaming base. Play it their way or not at all but with a very high player feedback system,

The Digital version also has content the board game doesn't have...

Oh how interesting. I should have guessed that though, as the digital version expands and attracts new followers, it will generate it's own unique blend of rules.

Actually, that's not entirely true. Most of the "bonus" content of the Digital version is just old promo cards etc. from the board game and variations

of a few existing cards. There's not that much "digital only" content.

As for the rules, the Digital version just outright changes some basic rules and cards, while also defining some of the corner cases / clarifying not clearly defined cards from the board game - from the point of view of the makers of the digital version.
