Bespin Predictions

By Norgrath, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

No one really engaged in my last prediction thread but I enjoyed myself so...

  • The Vibrosword will be a tier two item
  • It will have GG attack with +1 damage and surges for bleed, cleave 2, and pierce 2, two upgrade slots and will cost 700 credits
  • (basic) Bespin Guards will have 4 health, 4 speed, white defense die and BY attack die (Wow, spectacular failure).
  • The hidden text in sniper scope will read "After the attack resolves, you may become hidden"
  • One of the new supply cards will read "Discard this card at the end of your activation to become hidden"
  • One of the item cards will provide a companion
  • At least two of Davith's hero cards will involve hidden (yes)
  • The Campaign version of Blaise will allow you to spend threat when you deploy a spy or trooper (including him) for it to become hidden (nope)
  • New prediction in light of first preview: Davith's other 4 cost ability will be Cut and Run (word for word).

That's all I've got for now; feel free to add your own.

You can see in the preview that the Vibro sword has a blue die. My guess is they are going for something like Diala's lightsaber, powerful but hard to get surges.

The sniper scope has "While attacking if the target space is 5 or more spaces from you," my guess either it grants you an extra blue die, makes the target unmissable, or grants hidden after the attack.

Yellow seems kinda overkill on surges for a card with only 2 surges. They'll probably just be blue/green.

Do you mean a shop item or supply card provides a companion? Either way, I think that kind of thing might be limited to hero class cards as that seems like alot of potential power.

I'm guessing Blaise might have a thing to do with hero's using their abilities. Like extra strain costs.

You're probably right about Davith though and the hidden supply card. Hidden will probably be his main form of survival... which probably won't be enough as accuracy doesn't seem like a problem the Imperial player usually has. He'll probably also have a card that increases surges/damage if he started a turn that his target couldn't see him.

Oh wow, total colourblind attack, probably BR then (I am suddenly much less excited about this card).

I didn't think it needed to be said what the visible text on sniper scope said...

They have as many useful surges as basic officers, more than rebel troopers.

Supply cards aren't item cards, I'm expecting companions to be weak figures that, without providing an extra activation, are okay as an item card.

That could well be his second ability.

I was thinking more like he'd get bonus damage when attacking from hidden (although your idea is entirely feasible but both is wildly unlikely).

We really need a tier 3 melee, and really no more tier 1&2, but i agree that it is probably tier 2. We know it has a blue die, which is not really a colour you normally want to see on a melee weapon.

The sniper scope giving the hidden condition is pretty cool, but doesn't seem like something a scope would do. It will probably give a reroll or damage increase (if you are 5+ away)

I am hoping for a hero whose thing is companions, tho it wont here in this pack. An item that gives a companion would be cool.

I agree that Davith, will probably have a few more ways to hide and gets bonuses from being hidden. I really hope his skill deck is good because his hero sheet is pretty underwhelming. Because of that, I think he might actually start with a strong weapon (possibly a lightsaber).

Your Blaise prediction sounds about right.

Wing guards only have 2 surges (possibly more on elite version), Imperial officers have 3 and the elites have 4.

One of which is for accuracy and is thus much less important.

First Preview and my lower bound on Davith's hidden cards has been surpassed. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of them involved it.

So we now have a number of companions confirmed (3) with one use already set (I think it's safe to say that they won't have multiple different sources for the same companion).

Possible sources of the other companions:

Hero Card (More likely Murne than Davith)

Item Card (As I have predicted)

Supply Card

Imperial Class Card (Unlikely given the flavor of black ops)

Mission rule (probably better handled by a mission token)

Agenda Card...

Hey, you know something in star wars that seems like it would be a companion: Interrogation probes.

Hey, you know what one of the agenda sets is themed around: interrogation.

New prediction: The last card in Enhanced interrogation will be 2 influence and will say "Place this card in your play area. When you deploy a group you may also deploy the interrogation probe token. Then interrogation probe token readies at the start of that groups activation. It activates as though it was part of its group." The probe itself will have 1 health, 3 speed, a black defense die and no attack but it will have "Action: choose an adjacent hostile figure, that figure suffers 1 strain."
