After all of the love-hate-meh, I wonder how many of us are already very aware of the DVD/Blu-ray release date coming up?
I’ve already pre-ordered it.

Otherwise I agree with the general plot. The one thing that really bugged me was the overenthusiastic focus on Luke's importance, especially in the first part of the movie. I really don't think it could have hurt at all to have made the Starkiller base the orignal idea why Poe was dispatched, only then to also come across the other bit of information that they were searching for. That way a namedrop of a base would slowly be built up until it's firing, and probably would have made the entire experience flow a little better
I think I mentioned it in another thread, but one incredibly simple thing we came up with on a night out, that would have made the movie waaaaaay better, is this:
Different Scroll Text!
More (as in: actually helpful) information about the political situation of the galaxy after EP6 and nothing about Luke!
I know, I make it sound like I know better than disney and thousands of people who worked on it, but the added hype that came out of nowhere: "luke is not in the trailer, where's luke" was blasted over the social media and "infomercials" or what you call "news" today shows that making luke the main plot of the movie was for marketing reasons and not plot. (yes movies are made to be watched, I know)
Just want to add something I frequently leave out of my critics about the movie: The acting, the characters and the dialogue was great. Very happy with almost all of it.

- Poe has the plans for starkiller
- Leia and Han can tell the audience Lukes and Kylos story
- or Han tells Rei when they meet and she asks.

This so much really. I often actually come into the movies with zero expectations, because trailers are so full of rubbish. I don't want to see any of this, I don't want to associate this point in the trailer with that. I probably was the only one who was waiting for Poe to eat that blaster bolt to the face simply because I didn't know that he was a strong supportive character. You can't get surprised like that very often by watching trailers.
I mean they didn't have to explain everything. Just some broad strokes, Done. movie sharpened by something so small.
