There Once Was a Defender...

By Warlon, in X-Wing

Who didn't amount to much,

People tried to see his potential,

Of which he had none,

They would give him gifts to encourage him,

But it would never work.

Days went on, the Defender cried,

'Cause he would never amount to much,

Because he would never try,

Then along came a Veteran Warrior,

Who was known in all the lands,

Glowing weapons and trinkets galore,

Drew the eyes of many,

Even the town wh***

The Veteran Warrior greeted all,

His voice bellowed with strength,

But was soft like a pillow,

And sweet as honey,

"I bring gifts, friends!

I officially retire,

I have slain many and defended all!

I leave to you, my gifts from the fall."

He shed his armor and weapons,

Passing them around,

To whomever he deemed worthy,

Of carrying his crown,

Then his eye caught glimpse of a small man,

Sitting at the back of the crowd, his eyes wide and glad,

The Veteran Warrior grabbed a few things,

And passed through the crowd, as if he was plain,

He came up to the Defender, with a smile on his face,

He presented the items and spoke in place;

"Little Defender, I've been watching you a while,

You have much potential, but cannot see it!

I present to you these gifts, of which you may have all,

Carry on my legacy, through my fall."

The Defender accepted the gifts, his eyes watered,

Weapons and trinkets made his face shine,

Without another word, but with a smile,

The Veteran Warrior left for a long while,

It was after this that the Defender knew,

He was destined for greatness, of which he'd had no clue,

But now he was going to make his mark on the world,

And show what a Veteran could do.
