Budding imperial player fo swarm tips?

By Cyk0, in X-Wing Squad Lists

My previous entry into the game was staled by a new project at work... But after a game with a friend i'm ready to dive in :)

Can you do a good FO swarm or maybe spam out 3 omega leaders with juke and comms and something to go along with them?

Omega Leader is Unique, I believe, so you can't have more than one of him in a squad.

**** i hoped it would be non unique with the generic name... Do simple swarms still work or are they outmatched against all the fancy stuff that has hit the game upgrade wise?

4-ship FO mini-swarms are still strong because of unique pilot abilities like Omega Leader and 0mega Ace and the overall evade qualities of any FO with comm relay. Juke is a nice way to boost offensive power if you don't spend the evade token from comm relay on defense.

FO mini-swarms strugle against lists that deal unavoidable damage since each FO is only 4 hit points and the main strength of the FO (other than unique pilot abilities) is avoiding damage with green dice and evade tokens.

Also, since so many people are running Omega Leader and Omega Ace in their lists, I'm starting to see more people running the expert handling ept in my local meta to strip target locks and prevent Omega Leader and Omega Ace from using their abilities ... which negates the offensive benefit of those unique pilots.

Anyway, FO uniques and generics are good ... just be aware of their weaknesses in case you play against a list designed to kill FOs or deny Omega Leader and Omega Ace.

Okay so mini swarms can be done, how about 6 ship swarms with FO?

I wonder how my old list would fare in the current meta... 2 sabres w/ push the limit & autothrusters = 26 x 2

4 academy pilots = 12 x 4

You cant have more than one omega leader in a list. My favorite fo swarm list is:

Howlrunner w/hull upgrade

Epsilon Leader

4x Epsilon Squad Pilot

Went 4-0 in a tournament with this list.

Isn't it irritating that howlrunner doesn't have the same dial?
