That all ignores the 'my luck factor'. I don't think my player's GM understands the rules, and every time he spends a Destiny point he forgets to flip it. ![]()
Concerns about "Savage Spirits"
I just picked up the latest issue of Star Wars Insider and it has two pages of stuff that are all " Available: Now" from FFG, including Nexus of Power and Special Modifications, which we know to be out. But it also says that Savage Spirits and Imperial Veterans (for the X-Wing Miniatures Game) are also "Available: Now". Anyone know anything?
P.S., Sorry if this is redundant.

I wouldn't make much of it. It's entirely possible that Star Wars Insider got the dates wrong or thought it would be out by the time that issue went to press.
OK. Thanks Kael.
I'm actually hoping that the hermit will have some stealth and obfuscation talents, similar to the Sentinel: Shadow path.
Would certainly save my character some XP if it does. ![]()
I loved my spec so i'll copie it like in the good old days

Seems about right... I bet the Spec will look something like this, it seems to be the 'Force-sensitive Explorer' specialisation really.
I'm hoping one of the other two has lightsaber skills, as Armourer did.
Locking something so iconic like lightsabers in only one Spec per career seems wrong to me.

I agree. If we see a lightsaber spec, that could potentially set a pattern. One spec that has a "Automatic Conflict" talent*, and 1 spec that offers Lightsaber as a career skill.
* The executioner is bound to have an auto-conflict talent.
Executioner could be the Marauder of FaD, but I thought there where hints already of this being a ranged heavy character.
I'm actually of the opposite opinion, 12 different Lightsaber trees would be over doing it for me. Simply having 1 combat spec in every career was a change from the other lines, to have 2 focused on a single skill? Please no.

I didn't mean that they would all be "lightsaber specs". Some may simply offer the Lightsaber skill as a career skill, like the Armorer.

Oh I definitely hope the specs with the Lightsaber skill follow on from Armourer, but I still don't think Mystic or Consular need another Lightsaber capable spec, and I'm borderline on whether shadow needs it too. I would like to see at least one in warrior though, and I think a dual wield spec would fit in Seeker
The Lightsaber incorporating specs I would like to see are:
The Maker, got that in Armourer
The Dual Wield Lightsaber (Warrior?)
Dual Wield Lightsaber/Ranged Light (Seeker?)
The Leader/Instructor (Consular or Warrior)
Possibly a super stealthy infiltrator type, but Shadow and any Lightsaber tree does that already.
I just can't foresee any need for more than that, have I missed something?
Dual Wield Lightsaber/Ranged Light (Seeker?)
If they came out with this spec. I would be a very happy nerd.
Definitely my most wanted ![]()
According to the introductory article for Savage Spirits, Executioner will be a ranged assassin ("Executioners are apex predators, disciplined and shrewd, preferring to kill at range and eliminate the target without resistance.") So they'll probably have some stealth and ranged skills. Don't bet on any lightsaber skills there, even less chance of dual wield lightsaber spec.
If I had to guess, I'd probably say that Sentinel will get the Marauder archetype, focusing on closer quarter combat, while Warrior gets the Dual wield lightsaber spec.
While at it... why not make some predictions...
Consular :
- Negociator (mix of Negociation and Deception)
- Counselor (mix of Leadership and Charm)
- Emissary (mix of Piloting and Negociation)
Mystic :
- Apothecary (mix of Healer and Stim crafting)
- Witch (mix of athletics and ranged combat)
- Ancient (mix of knowledge skills and influence)
Sentinel :
- Marauder type
- Hacker type
- Underground type
Warrior :
- Tactician (mix of leadership and warfare)
- Dual wield lightsaber spec
- Survivor type (mix of Resilience and Survival)

Those specs could add some good variety to the F&D line.
I'm thinking that if we saw a dual saber form it would be somewhere else. The Warrior is the most likely spot for form VII and I think they would do that form before they would a dual wielding one.
I keep reminding myself these are supposed to represent the full variety of Force Users, not just the goody two shoes Jedi.
So I think there is I certainly room for a force using business person, someone who manipulates others to make a profit. Now some do this to improve the world they live on, bringing hope and opportunity to others. But some do it entirely to become rich, it could be the tree with a Dark Talent in the Consular career.
I would also love to see the Sig Vehicle talents make an appearance here as well, probably in Sentinal, possibly more focused on planetary vehicles too, so limiting the ranks of Increased Silhouette.
Same goes for all the cool new Talents in Special Modifications, enhancing your body with both cybernetics and the force... Or at least a very dark tree that's the Sith Alchemist. Something for the Sentinal again.
I think the Bucaneer/Pirate with sword and pistol fits in the Sentinal or Seeker trees, but I definitely agree if we get only 1 dual wield tree it will be a dual Lightsaber tree and is most likely in the Warrior spec.
I would love to see something that could be used for Sith Alchemy. Though it will likely be more broad as Force modifications and then you can just flavor it however you want it. I would be dismayed if we never saw anything that could be used for Sith Alchmey.
A few thoughts I've had:
- Mystic, as a career, fits 'sorcerer' types like Talzin or Darth Nox. There isn't really a specialization for Mystic that fits them, though; Seer is okay, but something like Alchemist would fit perfect. It would be a perfect contender for having the dark side talent. A lot of the other Force cultures are shamanistic in nature, so a Shaman might work, but that could fall under the purview of Alchemist. Personally, Mystic is the least likely to get another lightsaber spec.
- Consular has several options. I would personally like them to throw in the Jar'Kar spec because of it's relation to Niman, but that's me. Consulars were more than just diplomats, and were also intellectuals; Sage is good for that, but they also have the 'strong connection to the Force' bit. Something like Lore Keeper, Librarian, or Historian (all taken from different Jedi Consular roles) would focus more on the intelligence gathering, maybe like a Force-sensitive Archaeologist (without the Indiana Jones overtones). Not to mention something like the Barsen'thor; what that would actually do, I've no idea.
- Weapon Master seems a good addition, especially for Warriors. Hopefully it would focus on making melee and brawl weapons (maybe even ranged) competitive with lightsabers. Juyo specialization seems highly likely, also for Warrior.
- Sentinel has the possibility for Watchman and Investigator. The former I thought would function 50% as a neutral third-party negotiator, while the other 50% would cover 'area' knowledge (Astrogation, Core Worlds, Outer Rim), seeing as their job was to protect specific planets/star systems. The latter could be the 'Good Cop' to Warden's 'Bad Cop.' (Here's to hoping the book is called On the Watch.)
Seeker was the one that I could never think of anything for, so I was most interested in what they came up with (and Hermit totally blindsided me). The thing I try to remember when it comes to specs is archetypes, not just skillsets. I think when the options come up for the game, they're going to pick adding an archetype to the game over a diversifying the skillset.
What I'm honestly hoping to see is an Investigator, Sith Alchemy, and Juyuo.
I really like Blackbird88's ideas ![]()
You mustn't forget that each SW product line is supposed to be stand-alone. So the specs we have for F&D should cover all the main archetypes. That's why I added some kind of Computer Wiz to Sentinel ; it's the only career where I find that this spec would fit nicely. Mixing the 2 would come out like this...
Consular : Negociator, Lore Keeper (FS Archaeologist) and Emissary
Mystic : Sorcerer, Shaman, Apothecary
Sentinel : Watchman, Investigator, Netrunner
Warrior : Weapons Master, Juyo Practitioner, Tactician
That would be sweet ![]()
I would have said Artisan covers the computer roll quite well, I know it's not heavily focused on that, but I could see a more Analyst style computers expert in the FaD line
Mystic : Sorcerer, Shaman, Apothecary
I'll take one of each, please.
Sentinel : Watchman, ...
Hmmm, if my Force Rating is high enough and I take the specialisation watchman ... what will I become ... ?
Dr. Manhattan?
Sentinel : ..., Investigator, ...
YES, I want that!
(Edit: changed the three "becomes")
Edited by SpraugI was kinda hoping for a seeker:beast rider spec
. Reprinting the rules from stay on target. As each line should be stand alone
I think we will see the rules reprinted for riding, then the Hunter is actually quite good at riding, although without the cool talents. Hermit has potential to be a beast rider too. But I think FFG are happy for you to just pick up a cross career spec if you really want the cool talents.
Edit: 2 Expert Handler + 2 Beast Wrangler + 2 Hunter = a lot of boost and not many setback.
