What nicknames for Xwing list builds do you guys like best? Which ones do you find the most interesting or enjoyable?

I really only like nicknames if they are shorthand for a certain build. For me, really, that begins and ends with Stresshog (Gold Squadron, TLT, R3-A2, BTL-A4). Everybody knows what you mean when you say Stresshog.

and everyone knows what you mean by Fetagator, and Doom shuttle. There are a bunch of builds that work well with a nick name.

I only like the funny ones. I feel like people feel pressure to come up with some terrible name nowadays.

Never heard of a Fetagator... I can imagine what it is but it does not have a nice ring to it Oh and I'd still prefer if people would use titles for their topics with actual info to what the topic is about

I sometimes make up names for builds, but only for myself, because no one else will know what I'm talking about. For example, my favorite Defender build:

Rexler Brath

Predator

HLC

Hull Upgrade

is, in my head "Apex Predator"

or, if Lone Wolf is substituted for Predator, "Wolf King"

If I mentioned any of these to anyone, they would just look at me weird, or nod and walk away.

Eh, or move after him with a decent dial and repositioning. Most Interceptor types should be able to reasonably reliably donut hole him every round if they can get in behind.

apart from fun, nicknames should only really be used if they're clear abbreviations of the thing in question

even stuff like stresshog comes from a long line of outside material, such as the btl-a4's apparent similarity to some kind of military plane?

something like Stressy (Stress Y) is more easily digestible

even in situations where a silly name sticks, ala "el presidente", I can't in good conscience use it without clarifying what the hell I'm talking about (Omega "el presidente" Leader) in case we start confusing people and crossing streams with other nicknames (ala lockdown) that also have nothing to do with the game piece in question

of course, nothing we could ever do would ever approximate the horror of calling Chiraneau "chirpy" when you could abbreviate it to something far more understandable such as RAC (Rear admirable chiraneau)

in such terms, Heragator isn't terribly offensive (though people will have to be told that we're not talking about some terrifying twi'lek beast of the bayou)

Is it just me, or is there a pattern of people getting really excited about combos with navigator, stay on target, and other similar abilities that allow changing of maneuvers, which never seem to pan out competitively? Why do so many players think this combos will be so much better than they actually are?

if I had to guess, probably because it's silly good fun

it'll never be competitive because it does nothing to modify dice, but it is silly

though, if you want a potentially viable bumpmaster, I'd start looking at the jumpmaster or a Zeb + autoblaster + ac corrector VCX long before a heragator

I never said he was Dash Rander. I said he was Rash Dengar. The name is suitable because he is the opposite of Dash. He uses his boost/barrel roll to get into range one of people. He does the movement nonsense dash does which is all I claimed in my post. He is the opposite of Dash. It's a bit of fun but yeah you're better off with leaving the EU and PTL for VI and spending the spare points elsewhere.

Also watch your tone when talking to somebody making a polite joke on a fun thread. I replied with a joke and you responded like I was giving terrible advice for a tournie list or something. I'm not sure I deserved such a condesending tone unless it turns out your mother was killed by a bounty hunter pun in which case you can be forgiven for getting emotional.

One of my favorite nicknames that has caught on in the local meta is the Palpatank (Kenkirk with lone wolf, Ysanne, and of course, Palpatine). That thing is a beast to take down.
