Summer Kits are posted

By BergerFett, in Star Wars: Armada

the AF already has an alt art card.

The AF2A has an alt art card. Literally the least-used ship in the entire game, bar none. I see more Glad-II's than AF2A's. I can't remember the last time I saw one on the table.

Look at Apparent Rarity...

The Assault Frigate has one Alt Art Card (and one could argue it was done to encourage people to try to use them more often)

The Gladiator II now has an Alt Art Card (and one could argue as above as well...)

... Same as with the Nebulon-B Escort Card (which is popular as Yavaris, but less so as Salvation)

Granted, my argument falls apart with the Victory Alt Art Card, as I honestly don't know which one that is...

... The ISD-II for the Massing at Sullust Event was something different... Because out of everyone who got those cards, only a small fraction of those players actually Got the ISD to be able to use it immediately... it was more Commemerative than anything else - which is why it actually says the Massing of Sullust on the Card, rather than just being Plain Jane like the other Alt-Art Cards...

I figure they'll get to them eventually - Corvettes Included...

Then We'll start seeing Wave 3 :D

This is true, and it was a running joke around here that FFG only released AA cards for ships nobody used.

But then people started using Yavaris, and GSD-II's, while there is still no reason ever to use the AF2A.

We in our meta certainly found an AFMK-IIA with a certain loadout (Quad Laser/Point Defense Reroute, Ruthless Strats) was fantastic for dragging a pair of X-Wings into a Rhymerball and just SHooting everyone... Not only did it physical presence break up the Rhymer Ball in unpredictable ways - it was quite capable of almost immediately reducing said Rhymerball to a fraction of its current hit points... Often time, with the X-Wing assistance it brought along - it was able to mostly neutralise even a massive (120+) point ball monstrosity - Fireball, Vanilla, didn't matter... The Hurt was on.

To the point that we kind of ended Rhymerballs because of it.

That sounds like a pretty brutal squadron killer dras. Although I feel like it could be really good as the metaphorical meta pendulum is on the squadron side, its a pretty severe waste of points when it swings back away. Think I need to try it though, cuz it sounds like fun.

Oh, Indeed!

It was just an anecdotal response to the "still no reason ever" remark :)

Lol... I actually put that in there just for you: I knew if I stated an absolute, that you'd find an edge case to contradict it. I've been looking for a use case for that **** ship for 6 months now... :)

And there you have it! Everyone is happy! :D

A/F MC80 ackbar build permutation I've considered take As instead of Bs... giving all three ships two dice when they throw AA barrages. I have yet to see how effective it is when you bracket an entire rhymerball with three blasts of AA fire into it, but I imagine it's more effective than not. That is the only reason I've considered the A version lately though.

calling it now, if the cr90 card comes out it will be the B variant for sure

Boy I hope so! :)
