Show off your ship displays!

By OddballE8, in X-Wing

I just finished cleaning up at home today and decided to put the empty half of my bookshelf to good use.

I'm now displaying every ship I own (except one unfortunate TIE/fo that was broken out of the box) on three shelves.

One for each faction. (scum is a bit empty for now)

(please excuse the poor picture quality, as I had to stand far away and zoom in, since there's a couch, table and a TV in the way)

So, how do you display your minis? (If you do display them at all)

I don't display them since they just live in my travel bag given I play usually 2 nights a week at the flgs. Your display looks nice though!

While I love the look of displaying them, it would take me far too long to box them all back up (microhangers) and arrange them into a travel case for when I go play. I'm too OCD to just throw them haphazardly into a plano tray and go.

I used to put up nice displays, before I actually began playing. Now I keep everything in easy-to-access carrying cases. Or my tournament travel kit.

I have my Epic ships on a shelf. Too many little guys, and too much traveling to justify all of them being displayed

Display is nice

on a side note I have the same light up Christmas tree thingy!

Travel bags to for me. Maybe if I get a bigger apartment I might get a display case for them and some of my old Warhammer minis that I'm most proud of.

Too many (150+) to display. Mine reside if a plethora of 'Really Useful Boxes'.

Downside to doing it that way: you'll be surprised how dusty they get, and how quickly.

Solution: use display cases!

Wow... the display cases look sharp... and that would solve one of two problems I have with the shelving... three... dust and cat protectant! My cats would eat that shelf system up and would really have a grand old time... and then there is the travelling bit which I don't get to do enough, but I'm currently ready to run out the door in about two minutes!

Yeah, I know... But I'm already spending a frighteningly large proportion of my paycheck on FFG products...

Holy moly that is a ton of ships!

Also, does anyone who shelves their stuff get dust on them? I would've thought a glass case would be a better idea?

Was actually planning on buying a glassed in display (or rather a shelf with glass doors) when I move.

Will be moving sometime this year, so I don't feel that it's all that important to do it now.

But it won't be anything like xanderf's displays, it'll just be a normal bookshelf with glass covers.
