I had believed that FFG was withholding ALL information until Adepticon.

However.... Today they announced all new stuff for Imperial Assault! A new Bespin expansion and Bossk, Lando, etc. Cool stuff. But here's the thing. In addition to the preview article for the expansion, they ALSO did a preview article for the ally and villain packs. Normally I'd expect them to do at most, one article per week on something like that. I mean jeeesh, look at the Ghost. That was 2 weeks just for that one expansion.

So....

It makes me wonder if they wanted to get all the IA articles out this week, because next week is MORE news? Who's up for some speculation?

Man...if they release a Super Star Destroyer for Armada I might have to switch games.

Do they always do a full blown article on them on the same day though?

Because the first article does announce that there are also the extra packs - but I didn't expect a separate article on those packs to be released minutes after the first article was posted.

Wave 8 was announced a good month before Wave 7 was released. However, Wave 6 came out a good 2-3 months before Wave 7 was announced. So there isn't any rhyme or reason to wave announcements. I bet though we will see some announcement before Regionals kick off.

If they want to wait a good long time and let us actually enjoy Wave 8 before announcing yet more stuff, I would be more than OK with that.

I'd guess they rolled it back from so many of us (myself included here) that found releasing a new wave announcement before the almost-here wave dropped ended up resulted in the new product being ignored in favour of the months-away stuff.

For me personally, I'd rather get Wave 8 on the table and physically played before I get all insane over what's coming several months from now.

You could argue that they do that all the time with X-Wing though. Even now, with Wave 8 still not released, we've got Imperial Veterans still a ways off.

I think it was wave 6 that also got announced before Wave 5 was in retail stores as well. And we've so often had staggered releases, weather they be aces packs, huge ships, new Force Awakens standalone releases, or even a full blown wave... that there has always been stuff "On the radar".

I'm ok with enjoying Wave 8 too.... but I'm just saying it would seem out of character for FFG to allow much downtime without us having a ton of stuff to look forward to. (In this game at least.... My inner Armada fan has been weeping for months).

I'd rather let wave 8 land and get settled in before throwing a wave 9 into the mix. That gives people time to adjust to the new set before worrying about the next set which shouldn't be an issue for several months down the road.

Personally, I almost hate these super early announcements and all the spoiled information. While I can see why people may like it to start evaluations it can be extremely irritating to see people insist all using proxies of stuff that isn't even available yet. Having the next metagame mostly figured out before it even shows up I believe defeats the fun of the new stuff for many people.

I would expect an announcement by the time Wave8 hits stores... feels like it could be ANY time now.

Even with the sliding scale, an SSD would be about the size of the XWing version of the Raider.

Alex Davies did say in an interview that Wave 9 was already done, so I'm sure we'll see an announcement for that within the next few weeks.

Wave 8 at Adepticon for sure. Wouldn't they want it there to hype their new System Open stuff?

Personally I welcome the somewhat slower stream of new announcements. The past 6 months have been rather crazy for xwing with all the episode 7 hype.

I'd rather they wait and let us enjoy the wave 8 stuff we haven't even received yet.

I've been on the fence about jumping into Armada myself. It's starting to pick up steam around here. One of the game shops around here is holding their first tournament in a couple weeks, kit and all.
