Bespin!

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

You'd gain Hide after the surge. Just like how gaining Focus works.

I think 99% of this forum predicted Bespin as the new set?

Box looks great! Love the new tiles and the idea of a campaign set in a city in the stars sounds good.

Ugnaughts and Wing guards: well, what else could they include!?

Then the packs:

Lando and Bossk are definite purchases......while Blaise and the ISB figs look lame. Blaise because he's helmetless (and a Scout trooper would fit better in an Endor set) and the ISB figs don't look very Star Wars-y.

Won't get these last two.

My other small complaints: where's Lobot? And I must admit I'd rather have gotten Zuckuss and 4-LOM now instead of Bossk (Bossk is great, but the other two have been overlooked so many times....hope we'll get them next time!)

All in all: compliments to FFG for getting me excited!

So, what will the next Big Box expansion be? Jabba's Palace? Or Battle of Endor? (or who knows? Maybe a Death Star set?)

Edited by Jedi Bendu

Big box Jabba' Palace, small box Yoda, big box Endor.

I seriously doubt there will ever be an Obi-wan or Yoda based expansion considering that both of them are either in hiding or dead during the course of the films.

It's more likely going to be Big box Endor (in order to include more imperials), small box Jabba. They may include the last two bounty hunters, since they seem to be following a trend. And we'll likely see a jedi Luke.

Palpatine maybe, but he's a fan of being surrounded by guards and acting as a puppet master so I don't think having him as a miniature will be too likely.

Given that Jabba and a Rancor are a given for Jabba's Palace that would seem to put it as a big box rather than a small. But Jabba's Palace would be rough on Rebs and Imps because there is very little for them there without just making a bunch of stuff up. All the Rebel main characters are done and Imperials only really have Sandtroopers (and maybe squeeze in the Dewback).

If, and it's a big if, they could do Rebels as the next big box then, small box Jabba, big box Endor (it's a long wait for Rebel Commandos and Scout Troopers though), then small box Death Star.

The Lothal mission might be a red herring, but they snuck in a Cloud City mission into Hoth, so maybe this is becoming a theme (ridiculous confirmation bias at work here, or maybe just wishful thinking).

ISB with hide is great if you shoot and retreat, and keep maximum distance you can so they always hope for the best range dice result against you but you're still far, far away. Echo base troopers will never use a red dice against you.

Looking at the Hoth box (3 heroes, large creatures (wampa), 1 vehicle and 2 new type of minis (snowtrooper and HK droid):

Jabba + Rancor (instead of 2 Wampas)

small Skiff (instead of the tank)

Gamorrean guards (instead of the HK's)

Another goon (a Weequay?) (instead of the snowtroopers)

Packs: Jedi Luke, Bib Fortuna, Mara Jade (since in the EU she was in Jabba's Palace....and a 2 pack: Zuckuss & 4-LOM (since every box got a Bounty Hunter and these 2 are a team)

I’m starting to really dislike the ugnaughts

- So no “Habitat: Bespin” restriction which I find odd. I realize Bespin isn’t their home planet but according to wiki pages Gentes was conquered and enslaved during the Clone Wars and continued during Empire rule. I can’t see these guys getting around often (AKA using them freely as open groups).

- “Ugnaughts were generally a peaceful people with a rich culture” This is a workforce for hire, not soldiers for fire. At least the creatures in the mercenary faction can be seen as trained animals. And at least the tuskers are combat orientated.

- No figure for the junk droid which is super disappointing

I don't know, someone correct me, I wanna love these guys but I can't

They seem fine enough, but I don't think they'll replace my trusted Hired Gun any day soon anyway. The troopers could though.

No I think you are on to something here.. I seem to recall one of the podcasts out there confirming this. Something about talking to one of the developers at a gaming event and he said they like to hide Easter eggs in existing expansions for future ones. Anyone else confirm that?

I think that we might just see two small boxes in a row, or maybe Jabba's is a 'medium' box before the big box Endor. Doesn't make sense to go straight to Endor unless we are arriving before the Rebels do in the movie I suppose, but then by that point in the story you would have to assume they have already been to Jabba's and he is dead. Looking at Descent again, they went Small, Big, Small, Big, slightly bigger Small x 2 or 'medium' if we like. So if we follow that pattern then yes we are due for a big, but I think for IA they will have to alter this pattern as like I said the Endor timing seems off to me.

However with all the scum love were seeing with Bespin, it doesn't quite make sense to go to Jabba's and tilt the scales. I do love theorizing about this though for some odd reason, lol.

Hrmm I just noticed as well on the Bespin product page it lists two yellow FFG sleeve packs, where as Twin Shadows was only one. This could just mean there are 51 cards, or it could mean there are a lot more. Interesting, I am guessing the little droid cards pushed it over the edge?

https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/star-wars-imperial-assault/products/bespin-gambit/

Good catch. There should be around 18 for the heroes, maybe 4 for hide, 9 for the Imps. Would they really need more than 19 cards for equipment, rewards, crates, command and junk droids?

- Wookies were an enslaved race and you can have as many as you want in the game and show up in many canon material. Enslaved population on a home planet doesn't mean you didn't colonize before and got around, Star Wars revels and Clone wars had a number of ugnaughts walking around.

- Swedish are a peaceful people with a rich culture and they still have freelance engineers. Not all ugnaughts are the same,

Don't be a space racist. :P

And finally, Use R2 or another mini, we didn't get models for "devices" or "terminals", this is no different.

How much Blaise comes with a card called get off my lawn ? But in as much as a hate the sculpt I am really looking forward to him and the ISB infiltrators. I will paint them both up with blue armor and then do the same with my elite e web engineer and elite Scout troopers once we get them. Ultimate ISB

I think the Blaise sculpt is cool. Shame he has a stripper name though.

So, instead of a fighting pose, FFG gave us a sculpt of what a guy would look like if his enemies all just ran off instead of fighting him! Lol

"Dagnabbit you kids!" He said as he shook his fist in the air, "Get back here and fight me!" Purple with rage, Blaise slams his helmet into the ground in frustration.

Didn't the Ugnaughts rebel or something and take over Cloud city later? They must have had a martial bent for that sort of stunt.

I believe youre talking about one of Dark Forces (or Jedi Knight) computer games when a couple of levels are played there (after the events in ESB) and we learn that the inhabitants rebelled and took over the city soon after Lando warning of empire ocupation in the movie. If Im not mistaken it was later considered canon because of a novel/rpg book/comic... cant rememeber which one that had referenced that same rebellion.

The next big box should definitely be Jabba's Palace. This will definitely "beef" up the Scum faction. I expect almost the entire set and expansion to be all the scum characters and bounty hunters. Might even get Leia as Boussh which could be really cool both in campaign and skirmish modes. But as of right now, I know what I am definitely asking for on my birthday (end of June) this year!!

~D

I would prefer Boussh over Leia as Boussh

I would prefer Boussh over Leia as Boussh

Just wondering, but is Boussh even a character? I've read *nothing about him. He was dead in RotJ and he was dead in SotE. Other than Wookiepedia, where would I even find out about him?

We just got shown an expansion that is all scum figures and no imperials besides a villian (ISB are sold separately)... Why oh why do we need another expansion of just that?

The game is called IMPERIAL Assault.

theres always 2-3 seperately released blisters in a .5 wave. I could hypothesize a Dark/shadow trooper in that. I also really would guess something Lothal rebels related bringing in a inquisitor figure for imperials.

I was looking at this as well and thinking honestly they could do a Jabba/Endor split with the set and hit all three factions:

3 Heroes

SC2-M = Rancor

Snowtroopers = Scout Troopers

HKs = Wequay Guards

Wampas = Scouts on Speeder bikes

Then the expansion packs are:

Mercs:

Jabba

4-LOM and Zuckass

Rebels:

Rebel Commandos

Imperials:

I'd love to say Palpatine but my gut would be "made up Imperial Boss from Endor bunker".

This could then pave the way for a DS2 small box expansion which would then open up the release schedule for a REBELS big box expansion but I'm honestly at a loss as to what one would even put into a DS2 small box expansion as all of the relative troops are now represented. Death Star Gunner, anyone??
