Bespin!

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

That's a lightsaber on your belt, right? So either your Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight, or someone with a penchant for antiques and an insufferable opinion of their own swordsmanship.

No its not. Its just an illustration... eye candy for players.

I'm not sure if that's a joke or? Because he needs a melee weapon to use his special ability and the model clearly is holding a lightsaber.

So Finn is a Jedi just because he tries to use a lightsaber????

No because he tries and doesn't do a very good job of it, he also isn't force sensitive. But I guess a lot of it depends on what you consider a Jedi. Is a Jedi any light side force user or only those recognized by the Jedi Console?

But arguing that point is for lore discussions, because just about anyone who see's that model is going to call him a Jedi.

Do you already know if that hero comes with a lightsaber? The ability only refers to any melee weapon. The miniature having a lightsaber doest mean hes a Jedi. As per the old EU (or RPG) a Jedi would only be considered a Jedi (Knight) by a master like a chivalry order (although the last episode of Rebels changed that a bit).

Being Force sensitive doesnt assure a good job in using a lightsaber either. I guess Grievous should be a Jedi Master in the Clone Wars.

Its not important what I consider a Jedi. Its what is written in lore. If FFG changes that lore its their right.

Ithorian- my absolute fave (I hope he doesn't suck ) Edit : (Probs will....)

Lando- *with the awesome cape* Edit : (But his face looks like........)

Bossk -You guys remember months ago when I said Bossk should regenerate? **NAILED IT!** Edit: (Will be the only good figure on the whole wave apart from Agent Blaise)

Random Force User -I'm withholding my judgment until I see his character mission. If he *starts with a light saber, that's gonna be an issue. Edit: (His hero sheet looks really bad)

Random Imperials -I dont know anything about these guys, not really exciting. Edit: (Crap figure poses.....)

It is odd, this is the first expansion without any stock imperials in the box. I'm pretty sure the bespin guys are scum too. That a first.. Edit: (hopefully the last)

I am really disappointed with this wave...

The only things that will make buying it worth while is bossk and Agent Blaise....(apart from his figure which look terrible..)I think this one would be better: 6.jpeg

I am sorry if i am wrong but i feel like this wave is a HUGE let down....The isn't even any IMP in the main expansion.

Since the art and model have one I'd assume so. He may not start off with one, but IMO that's kind of lame. It's not like Lightsabers are nearly as rare as some people think. In the Star Wars comic a Hutt had a room packed full of them.

Its what is written in lore. If FFG changes that lore its their right.

But we don't even know what's written in the lore any more. Is Kenan in Rebels a Jedi? Asoka says she isn't but is that her call? Luke claims to be a Jedi, but there's no longer a Jedi Console to award that title, and Yoda has joined the force when he faces the Emperor.

So what exactly in canon is required to be considered a Jedi?

That all of course may make more sense to discuss in the OT form rather than here. But whether he's "officially" a Jedi or not, that's what people are going to call him. But by the same token... He's not actually referred to as a Jedi in the game either.

PATRICK, this is bait. No, He still doesn't make any sense. Ignore this and move on.

First off, I don't believe we are intended to believe that this game takes place during the movies.

Well by and large, IA isn't canon so they can do pretty much whatever they want I think, although as I mentioned in a Armada thread everything has to be approved by LFL/Disney. So they apparently are ok with Jedi and such in this era.

But your point about Vader, the only story he appears in, he's not actually killed IIRC. So other than him being included in a open group or something, you don't in terms of the narrative only face him once.

Being a force user doesnt make it a Jedi.

Rebel force user with a green saber? He's a Jedi.

Diala isn't a jedi. just a force sensitive exile.

Ahsoka isn't a jedi during Rebels (she even says so).

Possessing a lightsaber and being force sensitive does not a Jedi make.

Exactly....here's some made up BS background I just created about Davith but perhaps it might soothe your angst on him being a "jedi."

"Davith Elso used to be a bounty hunter, but was force sensitive. He killed a Jedi in hiding and took his lightsaber. When he claimed that lightsaber it showed him terrible visions and it caused him to go into exile. He was then recruited by the Rebels as an operative spy who wanted to do good and undo his wrongs. Now he fights for the good guys and uses the lightsaber as a reminder of what he once was. He is known among the underground as Hawkbat."

There's tons of background story stuff that could be made up to fit him into the game/lore.

Just enjoy it!

He actually kind of reminds me a bit of DC's Nightwing...

Guys.

Guys...

You can run

4x ughnaught tinkerer

4x hired gun with last resort

I call it "the expendables"

Wouldn't that result in 4x4x4 once the Junk Droids join in?? ...sounds like a dance :)

The only reason I can see for the ugly Blaise figure is that the Imperial Scout Troopers are going to use long rifles.

They couldv've easilly made this new guy a non-jedi infiltrator. A man who would have to rely on skill and training instead of the Force. I would gladly have taken the 'normal' man instead of another jedi.

The end is near... at last we agree on something.

I think he looks great but does any one else think that the Lando sculpture looks like Geraldo Rivera?

But we don't even know what's written in the lore any more. Is Kenan in Rebels a Jedi? Asoka says she isn't but is that her call? Luke claims to be a Jedi, but there's no longer a Jedi Console to award that title, and Yoda has joined the force when he faces the Emperor.

Are you talking only about the movies or anything else?

Luke claims to be a Jedi to impress Jabba (read the novelization of the Return of the Jedi). When he goes to Dagobah after freeing Han Yoda says he cant teach him anything else. The only thing he needs to do is to face Vader once again to complete his training and become a Jedi.

More Force Users are a good thing. I predict another one later, likely a repentant Inqusitor.

One of the weirdest and most absurd ideas in Star Wars fandom is that Luke is the only force user that can learn to use the force actively and weild a lightsaber. The known Galaxy has trillions of inhabitants, for there to be any viable concept of The Force there needs to be lots of poeple that have it, even absurdly low levels of probaility (like 1:100 000 000) there would still be tens of thousands of people capable of learning to use the force, something all the movies have shown can be done instinctlively.

Not to mention that being a Jedi is not about wielding a lightsaber or using the Force, its about a religious philosophy (much like the Sith). Jedi are a religious organisation of monks, and they are extinct at this time. Doesn't stop the the Galaxy form brimming with peopel capable of using their weapons or using the Force.

Only thing I dislike about this expansion is Agent Blaise, I had hoped for a female villain.

Just want to point out that they seem to be getting much better at creating worth while allies and villains. All three uniques seem priced well enough That I'd want to include them in either campaign or skirmish (seriously did anyone read agent blase's abilities? Viewing then possibly discarding enemy command cards? Awesome!)

Jedi are what get the kids excited and are big money magnets.

Jedi get a lot of people excited, it only makes sense to have one or two in the game. Also, from a playability standpoint, it means that if two people want to play as Force-users in your campaign, then there's no arguing over who gets the single force-using character from the core set. Two players can now be happy rather than one while the other gets their "second choice" character.

Also, the entirety of the Prequel Trilogy, Original Trilogy, The Force Awakens, and the rest of the movies in the Sequel Trilogy are stories based around the Jedi (or at least the Skywalker family and their involvement with the Jedi) and their actions in the galaxy. Jedi aren't just money magnets, but part of the core of the Star Wars story.

If the inclusion of Lothal in Lando's skirmish mission is any indication, Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka might be on the way in the future.

I really like there there is another true melee character, and he does look to have a pretty different style than the other melees. Although his starting stats of 11 hp, 4 speed, 4 endurance and white die is pretty weak and his abilities arent much better. Cloak and Dagger sounds good, but the -2 accuracy probably wont come into play much as a melee character and you will often have to choose between hiding or recovering strain. And force speed doesnt really make up for the fact that he starts with 4 speed/4endurance. It of course, will all come down to his skill deck and he hopefully starts with a good weapon.

Happy to see more modifications, but if that vibrosword is another tier 1, i will lose it, really need another tier 3 melee weapon, but this probably isnt it. :(

Both Lando and Bossk look like a solid choice for an ally/villain.

The new units dont seem too spectacular for the imperial player, with the ISB probably being the best of the bunch. There isnt a lot of competition in the 5 cost threat bracket (elite probe being my current go-to).

I bet they will. Even if indirectly like Luke is now or maybe in a new campaign.

Then theres the Wing Guards who from a lore stand point shouldn't be used anywhere but Bespin. Also theres the fact that these guys who work for Lando in the movies apparently don't work for him in the game and will even be shooting at him.

Yea, I found that disappointing as well.

Doesn’t make any sense at all.

I guess the rebels don’t really need another trooper variant but if that’s the case, leave these guys out entirely.

Plus, It’ll be weird mowing down ugnaughts during campaign. Always thought they were more of a nuisance rather than hostile.

Overall, I’m happy with it :)

- Love the Hide condition. Sounds like the designers were listening to feedback when many agreed that some type of cover mechanic is needed for defense.

- Cheap(er) unique characters. Yes!

- Beautiful tiles

- Sniper scope attachment supporting long range attacks

- Two reward cards in the ISB pack. Maybe a new threat mission?

- If Fenn’s Tactical movement class card has taught us anything, it’s that bonus movement points are huge. Great starting ability on Davith.

- “major character on box art = no figure in box” trend continues for mini expansions. Ughhhhhhh.....hhhhh.

Bossk is a dynamo. That "Grenade" attack he can throw each round is amazing.

I like what I'm seeing here.

Lando... Awesome

Bossk....Awesome

Another "Jedi"...Awesome

2 force users out of the 13 we've gotten so far sounds right. I have no qualms with that.

Hmmm... Out in the 2nd Quarter... So around thanksgiving then?

Are you talking only about the movies or anything else?

I'm talking about canon, which includes the movies and TV shows, but may or may not include the Legends stuff.

Do you need to be recognized by a Jedi Master to be a Jedi Knight? Is Jedi an actual title/rank or just what people who follow the Jedi code call themselves? Is Knight a title/rank like Master?

Can anyone who follows the Jedi code, and is force sensitive a Jedi? I mean if Jedi is a religion then in most cases you don't need to be recognized by a church to be considered a member of that religion, although you do need that to be a priest/pastor.

But regardless of the lore, most people will see a force user with a saber and say Jedi or Sith.

Lastly I find the whole idea of a force/jedi ninja to be much more interesting than a normal guy who's good at sneaking.

Couple of things:

First, I believe the Ithorian, Murne Rin, may be female. No substantial onfo on this, but the clothes and sculpt make me feel that Murne is female.

Two, for those who don't like Lando, paint him wearing all beige and call him 'Blando'.

I like what I'm seeing here.

Lando... Awesome

Bossk....Awesome

Wanted to write a snarky continuation of that (something something Sando) but then I realized that I can't top that. :-)

You're thinking third quarter. Second quarter is April to June.

But given FFG's track record, Thanksgiving isn't that far fetched when they say Q2.
