"After you roll attack dice, you may suffer 1 fatigue token to reroll 1 power die"
Can the Hero suffer multiple fatigue tokens to reroll diferent power dice or the same one?
Rusted Handaxe question
Based on other cards, I'm pretty sure you could suffer multiple fatigue to reroll multiple dice (if you added a yellow from diving fury, you could spend 1 to reroll the green and one to reroll the yellow). I don't think you could reroll the same die multiple times because the new roll is not a new rolling trigger.
Also, just remember blue is the attack die, not a power die.
Interesting. We have always played these types of "abilities" as a one-time use. We have read these types of statements as a "limiting" statement, meaning that you have the choice of spending exactly 1 fatigue to re-roll exactly 1 die.
This is a good example of a mechanic and text in the game that seems very simplistic on its face, but offers the opportunity of different interpretations, each of which could be valid. This is the type of stuff that tends to drive me a bit nuts with FFG games in general.
Really wish it was made clearer.
I believe it all comes down to phrasing, and yes, I agree it is more complex than first glance. For example, if it said, "Each time you roll..." it would be an explicit one fatigue, one reroll limit.
Which other cards are you referring to, Zaltyre? I also read this statement essentially like any2cards: you may spend (up to) 1 fatigue to re-roll 1 power die. Maybe we can ask FFG?

The movement ability on Channeling is one example which immediately comes to mind, as is Defend (it can be used twice during the same attack to protect two additional heroes.) After using either of these skills, both of the following hold:
1) The triggering condition is still true. (In the case of Channeling, it is still the conjurer's turn. In the case of Defend, there is another 'another hero' targeted by the attack. For the rusted handaxe, you have still just rolled dice for an attack.)
2) The card has not been exhausted or otherwise been rendered inoperable.
Note that there are several ways in which abilities are restricted from being reused infinitely:
-Cost: Many abilities have a cost; usually the cost for a hero skill is fatigue. This cost must be paid each time an ability is used. If it cannot be paid, the ability can't be used. This prevents several hero skills from being used over and over (ex. Nimble ).
-Exhaust: Some skills must be exhausted to be used, which prevents them from use until the card can be refreshed, almost always limiting the card to use once per round. (ex. Prayer of Healing ).
-Action: Some abilities cost an action. This restricts their use based on the action limit of the figure performing them, usually twice per round maximum. (ex. Radiant Light )
-Trigger format: Several abilities are phrased such that they can be trigger in response to a specific event (each time X occurs), rather than during a period (during X). In lieu of other limitations, this prevents the ability from being used more than once per trigger (ex. Cleansing Touch )
-Explicit limit: Several abilities have text which prohibits use more than once in a given period, whether that period is a round, turn, etc. (ex. Widow Tarha's hero ability )
None of the above restrictions (beyond cost) exist on the Rusted Handaxe card. (For example, it does not say, " Exhaust this card to... ", " each time you attack, you may. ..", or " limit once per attack. ") Therefore, it is my conclusion that the reroll ability on the handaxe can be used for each power die, as long as the cost is paid. This is just my interpretation of the phrasing of the abilities- I didn't write any of them, so it might not be the intended use. If you do ask FFG about this, I ask that you please post the question and response when you receive one to make the question easier to answer in the future.
Edited by ZaltyreThanks, I'll ask FFG and post the question and response if/when I hear back. I'm unsure if the triggering condition is still true...if I roll the attack die, then I re-roll one power die (by using one fatigue), is it still "after I roll attack dice"? I'll ask

To be clear, what I'm suggesting is that you could decide at once (right after rolling) to spend 1 fatigue to reroll 1 power die, and also to spend 1 fatigue to reroll another. That does not necessarily mean you can reroll one, then decide whether or not to reroll the other. (In other words, you are using the ability twice immediately and then just resolving each ability, which is potentially different than using the ability, then using it again.)
Yes, I think simultaneous re-rolling is more likely to be allowed. Below are the questions I emailed to FFG yesterday, via their generic contact form on their website. If they don't result in answers that clear everything up on our end, I'll ask again.

I have two related questions about an item in Descent Journeys in the Dark 2nd edition: the Rusted Handaxe. The card says: "After you roll attack dice, you may suffer 1 fatigue token to reroll 1 power die" By default, an attack with this weapon rolls one blue attack die and one green power die.
1) Can the attacker suffer multiple fatigue tokens to re-roll the green power die multiple times?
2) There are other cards which can be used to add more power die to the attack roll. In such a case, can the attacker suffer multiple fatigue tokens to re-roll multiple different power dice?
Hi asked FFG too.
This is the answer:
Thanks you guys for ur thoughts
