Tournament tomorrow. Decisions decisions

By LeafOnTheWind42, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey guys I have a store championship tournament tomorrow.

Got two list options that I can't decide between.

The first I've flown a lot and it consistently works fairly well. Not sure it will win me the tournament though.

The second is potentially quite lethal, but unproven because I've only flown it a couple of times.

Options are as follows.

List one:

Guiri (starviper)

Bodyguard

Bobba Fett (Firespray)

Stealth device

Syndicate Thug (Y-wing)

Unhinged astromech

Twin laser turret

List two:

Talonbane cobra (khiraxz fighter)

Crackshot

Glitterstim

Engine upgrade

Homing missiles

Kavil (Y-wing)

Unhinged astromech

Push the limit

Blaster turret

N'duru (headhunter)

Glitterstim

Hull upgrade

Cluster missiles

Lone wolf

Thoughts?

My thoughts on list 1:

Bodyguard is a poor choice for Guri. She can do some serious work if you kit her out for it, but using her as a support ship is a) wasting her talents and b) inefficient (32 points to sometimes give boba +1 green die is not a good deal).

My suggestion would be this:

Mando Merc w/ crack shot & K4 droid = 39

Guri w/ predator & autothrusters = 35

Thug w/ twin laser & R4 agromech = 26

100

Same ships, but each one is optimized for maximum damage potential. Killing stuff wins games ;)

If you really like Boba Fett, this is another fun way to run viper + 'spray:

Boba w/ veteran instincts, tactician, glitterstim & engine upgrade = 48

Xizor w/ predator, virago, advanced sensors & autothrusters = 40

binayre pirate = 12

100

Xizor hangs tight with the pirate until the little zed dies (its just ablative wounds for the prince). Try to get Xizor in behind or on a flank. Meanwhile Boba can move in aggressively thanks to his ability + evade token + glitterstim to shrug off focus fire (for one turn at least).

Thoughts on 2nd list:

I feel like you really like these 3 pilots and want to run them together, but had a bunch of extra points left over, so padded them on to fill the list to 100. Personally, I think you would be better off with a pair of generic z-95s (possibly with feedbacks) instead of N'dru. The problem for both Kavil and Talonbane is they want specific ranges, so to better control the opponent, having a pair of blockers makes it easier on you.
