2016 Regional Locations Posted

By Hida77, in X-Wing

I guess we'll be seeing prize kits posted soon. I'm going to have to drive to Georgia for Netrunner thanks to a scheduling problem, if I want to do it(I do), but X-wing in Melbourne is pretty convenient.

Do we know anything about the regional kits, yet?

IE., still support 64 players?

That map linked on page one looks to be inaccurate. At the very least the locations for both the Montana and Oregon events are incorrect. Don't know about the others as I only checked those two since they are the closest to my location.

Eh - no? That looks like Guardian Games in Portland, OR to me?

(Can't speak to Montana)

I am so lucky that the Best Ranger Competition ends on April 15th or I wouldn't have been able to go to the GA regional.

Sorry, there's a stipulation for the GA Regionals that you specifically must fly 3 T-65 X-Wings.

Is it just me, or do there seem to be fewer than last year? Nothing in Arizona, Kansas, or Nebraska, for example, places where I know people from my store went last time.

I just counted. Last year, the US had 25 Regional events. This year, there's 30.

EDIT: I boo the fact that Washington's Armada, X-Wing and Imperial Assault regional events are all consolidated at the same 3-day convention.

Only in the Seattle area. Dice Age Games in Vancouver, WA is hosting Imperial Assault and Armada and Guardian Games in Portland is hosting X-Wing. Seattle/Tacoma does not equal "Washington".

Here's a more accurate one that I just made:

Getting to defend my regional championship at my local store! Super stoked.

Hope to see you back in the top cut!

I've got a Google map up, as well. There's a front-page thread on it.

When I click/zoom in on the map in the link it shows Dice Age games in Vancouver, so I'm not sure what map you are looking at. Edit: perhaps you were looking at the other:

EDIT: Vorpal Sword's map is more accurate:

While there is actually more, it is interesting these states missed out on regionals this year as they have shown in the past to be pretty popular areas for the game (if I'm remembering correctly).

The "Kansas" tournament is in Independence, MO (that's Missouri BTW, Miss. is an abbreviation for Mississippi), same place as last year. It's generally considered part of the Kansas City metro, which itself straddles the KS/MO border, hence the confusion. There weren't any regionals actually in Kansas last year either.

Can't speak for Arizona or Nebraska, not sure what happened there, and I know there are players in Omaha for sure.

Montana is accurate. Do you have a game other than X-wing checked maybe?

We'll see, Store Champ season hasn't been kind to me(in X-wing at least), but it wasn't any better last year either. Might be my time again heh.

Also the fact that the one in Portland is a week before. That's harder to explain to the wife.

That one's not hard at all. Portland is awesome, the hotels there are great, and I believe that location is near PDX's Distillery Row. My wife was actually asking me about when Regionals were. She doesn't play X-Wing, but just wanted the excuse to chill in a hotel and do some shopping. :D

That was the problem - apparently I was looking at Netrunner lol. Good call, thanks!

Negative. I'm not handicapping myself like I did last year.

Traitor!

I have 1 more store championship the weekend before Adepticon to try and secure a first round bye at the regional at the FFG Center. It should be interesting because Wave 8 will have just dropped.

Woo! Finally got one in Montana so we don't have to drive 6-8 hours!

And bonus, no regionals in Boise this year.

I'm local to the Boise area and it was just awful last year... I am so sorry you guys had to go through that. This year I get to make my way to Utah (schedule permitting). We did submit a different location this year as well, but I think Utah has a bigger player base. FFG probably chose this because Idaho only had 2 SC's statewide...and zero in Boise.

As a resident of Philadelphia with no car:

;-;

Woot!! Game Kastle in Mt. View. Huge store with 8000 square feet of gaming space. They're expecting 100-200 players and are spreading the regional over two days (swiss on Saturday, finals on Sunday). Should be a blast.

On another note, does anyone know what are the prizes for the regionals?

Nowhere near Houston again. Guess I'll see if I can manage a road trip to Austin.

We'll be here waiting!

Why is this information nearly impossible to find on the FFG site, or even here in the forums?
