Legacy of Timmorran Solitaire Session Report

I have played Descent since first edition. Unfortunately I have always been short of other players so I have played solitaire the vast majority of the time. With second edition, all of the different coop/solitaire variants have been my favorite way to play for at least two years now. Currently, I am using RedJack’s RAMV system that can be found on BGG. After using this system for a few campaigns I have made a few modifications that have made it more enjoyable for me. I have been testing these changes in Zaltyre’s custom campaign titled, Legacy of Timmorran. I have enjoyed this campaign and I appreciate his work in creating it. If you have not tried it out, I encourage you to do so.

I have recently started a second LoT campaign and I thought I would provide short session reports in case anyone is interested. The following randomly selected Heroes are in use for this campaign:

Karnon – Beserker

Elaria (Custom Runebound Midnight Hero) – Wildlander

Zyla – Conjurer

Ispher – Physician – (Custom Healer Class)

Introduction - Rallying Support

The Heroes have just arrived in Tamalir and are looking for some needed rest when they are informed by a villager that a messenger in the inn wishes to talk to them. Suddenly, the villager is struck dead by magical flame. As the Heroes rush out of the tavern, fleshmoulders are spotted across the town square heading for the inn. Stranger still, volucrix readers are pouring out of the library! The reavers rush to the door of the inn, only to discover that the frightened occupants had barricaded the door. Regardless, in a mad fury they begin to beat down the door. Karnon, Zyla, and Ispher rush across the town square while Elaria decides to investigate something strange along the gallows, which turns out to be a hidden passage that smells of trolls.

Round #2

The Heroes continue to rush for the inn to stop the monsters, the battle begins to unfold as fleshmoulders are cut down by Karnon and Zyla kills a reaver. Ispher moves up in support and Elaria decides to join the fray instead of further investigation at the secret passage. The monsters defend themselves and claw desperately at the door.

Round #3

Suddenly, some evil spell befalls the Heroes, and all but Karnon find themselves immobilized. Regardless, the Heroes do their best to slay the monsters as the battle at the door intensifies with the arrival of a master reaver. It is only a matter of time before the door fails.

Round #4

The battle at the door begins to turn to the Heroes’ favor, but at the last moment the door fails and the remaining monsters rush into the inn, it is too late, the messenger is mortally wounded. As quick as they came, the monsters melt into the streets of Tamalir.

This is the second time I have played this quest, and the second time I have lost. In the first attempt, I focused on searching which gave the monsters time to kill the messenger. This time I decided to rush the door, kill the monsters and then search, but the reavers got the jump and beat me to the door. As it stands, this was quite the disaster, the Heroes gained 0 gold for the quest. I hope that things improve for the next quest.

I am glad to see you're enjoying my campaign! I'd just like to point out that some of the quests have been changed a little bit since the pdf (and are continuing to be tweaked, I'm finishing up a campaign with my group now). I'd just encourage you to check the versions in the quest vault- these will always be the most up-to-date.
