Strange Species/Career Matchup

By Hoda25, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey I guys I'm trying to decide on PC and I'm looking for ideas. I really just want some feedback.

I'm looking at possible strange match ups for a Species and their careers.

A Ithorian Bounty Hunter Assassin

A Klatooine Diplomat Advisor

A Polis Massan Hired Gun Marauder

An Aqulish Explorer Archeologist

Those are just some ideas but I would happily take any other ideas into account.

I really want to play as an odd ball character. I'm really curious to hear what you guys come up with.

Thanks guys.

We have an IG-88 assassin droid medic in the group. Of course, he's a bit psychotic and tends to perform impromptu lobotomies on any Imperials he comes across :)

To play the "canon" card, we have seen, from what I can recall, 4 Ithorians on screen in star wars films/television. The original cantina Ithorian. Two in clone wars which were bounty hunters, a bar owner and a mother (job

Unknown). So, we can conclude that ithorians are drawn to alchohol, and places that serve it, and dangerous careers.

This makes it seem that they are less than pacifistic hippies as espoused in legends fiction. -OR- like all species, they have people that take different paths in life, some good, some bad, but all different. No species should be typecast.

That being said, I did make a Klatooinian Archeologist: Dr, Enhyr Sonje. His last crusade, raiding temples, facing doom at the hands of the hutts, all for fortune and glory.

If I ever get the chance to play instead of GM, I'm going to be a Droid Gambler.

A Trandoshan Diplomat.

Who agitates for Wookie rights.

Nemoidian Enforcer or Bodyguard.

I'm partial to the chadra-fan Hired Gun (Heavy) myself. And I'm currently GMing a Verpine Guardian (Peacekeeper).

Also, side note, we've seen a lot of Ithorians in The Clone Wars, including a senator and a Jedi youngling. And I still have a season to go (and haven't started Rebels yet).

Wow some of these are really cool especially the droids. I forgot about droids as PCs because no one in my group likes them.

This is one of my favourite droid creations, a B3 battle droid, as soon as i saw the HH-50 pistols in Stay on Target i wanted a dual wielding droid with them. Its name is B3-TR aka "Better... Do What He Says" and its built with the Knight Level rules. Combining Enforcer and Marshal with a high Willpower to make a frightening ranged light monster. Its not very "strange" because it has characteristics where it needs them, so onto my other favourite.

My other more creative Droid is a Super Load Lifter, again Knight Level, called SLL-4P (Slap). It is an Engineer Mechanic with only 2 Intellect, but a 5 in Brawn. the way i see it working is that for all the Hull Trauma repairs it uses its Athletics skill to get the repairs done, but when its fixing system strain it uses its expert Mechanical knowledge to get things done. Outside of the ship its walking cover for the rest of the party.

Male Selonian Warrior/Aggressor.

I dunno, tough males who defy their culture's misandry seem to be a pretty common choice when people actually choose Selonians.

I wouldn't know. Chadra-Fan Warrior/Aggressor.

I have an F&D game I’m running, and last week we got a new player running a Chadra-Fan Bounty Hunter/Sniper. He’s carrying the same gun that Aurra Sing used. It’s about twice as long as his body.

I still haven’t quite wrapped my brain around that one.

I guess any Droid with an FaD career/specialisation is an odd one, even if some actually work quite well.

Iron Knight?

BTW, my own character I’m now running in an online game on roll20 is a Besalisk Mercenary/Heavy, with a 4 Agility.

He’s now the ships Weapon Officer, and I’m going to be working towards doing Four Weapon Combat with him in the future — my GM and I have already discussed the idea, and he’s told me where he thinks I need to go to make that happen.

After that, I might go down into Gunslinger. And/or maybe Force Sensitive Exile.

And yes, he’s a distant cousin of Pong Krell, although he doesn’t know that much about his cousin or what happened to him. His name is “Ping”.

R2 Series Droid Heavy

Well, in one of my games we had an astromech Demolitionist. Does that count?

I can just imagine an Ewok Hired Gun Marauder now. I'm really enjoying the different ideas.

Thanks guys. Keep the ideas rolling.
