Heads up... Regionals in Portland third weekend in May, and in Tacoma fourth weekend in May.

Well bah... graduation is the 28 of may and I already paid and registered and the likely hood I can get 2 weekends off in a row is bad.

It went ok. I died. Lost r2. Had get another.

Friday's Hero of Aturi was brutal. Team work on the deployment (which was VERY different that standard Xwing deploy) was not coordinated well on our part and the AI beat us up for it.

Then Yesterday I played the best complete tournament I have ever played (at Fantasium's store championship) 4-0 after swiss with no modifieds. Good enough for 2nd highest ranking and only 7 MOV from the leader. And I faced one particular list (5 tie/tie-FO ace swarm) in which I watched to engage him through the rocks and he watched to engage me in the clear. So we danced for 75 minutes and all I killed was a 15 point black sq pilot with crack shot (his only non-named pilot). Winning 15-0 is not typical, but that is what my list does well is get the 5 points without getting much MOV. But I had three other high MOV matches, so it worked out. I did very well in the Semi final and then in the final I was up against Redline with ion Torps and cluster missiles and extra munitions (deadly), Vader in a tie advanced and then a palp shuttle. I did not realize all the ion torps did, and it cost me the game when he ioned all of my K's in one shot on the alpha strike. The only saving grace was sticking 4 stress on Vader and getting him down to one hull and also doudle stressing Redline. Then Vader fed out of range and my first warden died. So my opponent was surprised to see me switch targets to a full health palp shuttle the was hiding behind a rock. The reason I did it was that I realized that if the shuttle had four stress on him, he can't hard turn for four rounds and where he was on the board, he would not be capable of turning around. So Miranda and my other warden got the range 2 and in arc and four TLT shots through rocks netted only 1 damage, but 4 stress tokens. Then I turned back to try to get back at Vader and finish his last hull. Two turns later the 9 health palp shuttle flew itself off the board because of the stress I landed earlier. Unfortunately Redline put himself between me and Vader and slaughtered Miranda with his 2nd ion torp, followed by Cluster missiles. At that point redline had 7 health and knew that my last warden had to avoid Redline and get to Vader to have a chance and my opponent (I'm terrible with names, and it was end of long day) flew well at making sure that my only way to get a shot on Vader also meant having Redline with an opportunity to nail me with his last cluster missile (which is devastating on Redline with the multiple target locks PLUS fire control systems). So anytime that redline had an opportunity to get to me, I'd have to slam out of range and that meant not shooting that turn and hence never getting the Vader shot. When it finally came time for the showdown, the warden was killed by redline before I ever got my shot on Vader. It was a great match. I had a lot of fun but slight disappointment at coming so close on my last opportunity to win a SC this season. And falling JUST short on the last match of the day after flying basically faultless leading up to the final.

I will probably NOT fly the triple Ks at Game Matrix SC next weekend. I'll come hang out and fly a fun new experiment list for me and leave after swiss rounds to take my mom to Sounders match.

I was RIGHT there and I have to wonder if I had realized what ion torp does, would I have won? Not sure. His Redline build was brutal against TLT Kwings. It was a fun game, a little nerve racking.

The one thing about the Danger Zone list I am finding is that each meta list that I face, I have slowly found what to do to win. For instance Brobots were tough until I found a better strategy. Tie swarms were tough until I found a better strategy. I faced a Poe + two Wardens yesterday and I soon as I saw the way my opponent deployed, I knew I could not lose as long as I executed the first two turns to engage at the right angles and Poe was dead before getting any more than one range 3 shot off.

I'm going to be sad when wave 8, and even more so imperial veterans, comes out and I put this list to rest. Because this is legitimately only my second real tournament list that I feel I have mastered mostly. It is so much fun to fly.
