Didn't you just start a PBP on these forums? How is it going?

Just FYI I still can't post on Force Fugitives. Did you add me?
Force Fugitives on the website, or on these forums?
In related news, I'm happy to announce that Tempest Feud is two months shy of its first anniversary! Seven excellent players, roughly 625 posts stretching from hundreds to thousands of words long, and an awesome cast of PCs later, and the game is still going strong! I welcome any lurkers who want to follow the story! The link's in my signature.
Edited by LadySkywalkerBy the way, I may - MAY - consider taking another player further down the line, since a PbP makes it manageable to do so. If that might interest anyone, please check the board to see what characters/careers/specialisations we have, and read the story so far to a) see what's happened so far, and b) get a feel for the kind of game I run, and the kind of posts expected of the players (you'll notice that there are almost NO posts that are short, single sentence things - most are detailed and well thought out, and so that's what I'll be wanting from any new player).
Send me a private message if interested. I COULD recruit through the boards themselves, but all of my current players (save one) were recruited through these forums, and so I'd like to keep up that practice. You MUST NOT have ever read, or played, or run, the Tempest Feud module from the d20 Star Wars game, and must be committed to a long term campaign (since I've plans in place to carry us through the Galactic Civil War after the module is concluded).
EDIT: Oh, please also go here and read my Campaign Details page - it pretty much sums up everything you need to know about the game, save for the house rules (located here) and list of PCs (located here). PLEASE NOTE that music begins playing when you open the Campaign Details page!
Edited by LadySkywalkerHuzzah! As of a week ago, my Tempest Feud game has been running for a solid year. :-)
Yeah, unless you want to avoid spoilers for the Tempest Feud module it makes for an interesting read. Explosive content this week...
Heh. I see what you did there. ![]()
I am currently trying to work with the site owner to see if there's anything I can do to make the Star Wars area of the site more appealing to new members, players and GMs. It's a hell of a site as is, and deserves far more attention than it's currently getting. So if anyone can think of anything that might make recruitment easier or more enticing, let me know!
And be sure to check the site out if you haven't already! We still need more GMs, players, and general members. It supports d20, FFG, and WEG Star Wars, so there's plenty there to work with.
The site is after new GMs! If you ever wanted to try running a Star Wars (or non-Star Wars) game for the first time, relocate an existing PBP campaign, or even start a fresh story as an experienced GM, this is an ideal site on which to do so!

Hey, I just registered to check it out. I don't know if you have any influence with the website maintainers, but I have some suggestions:
1. It's way too busy with graphics. It's hard to read the text on the page, especially with a non-neutral background (compare that site to this one or Gamersplane).
2. Passwords are not encrypted in their database. :-(
3. I couldn't see a way to subscribe to threads to get email alerts. Maybe I missed it due to #1, above, though.

Hey Volt, might be worth you checking out Gamers Plane as well, I've found it to have everything one needs (dedicated campaign forums and threads, in-post dice roller, in-forum character sheets, awesome active community, email alerts), nothing one doesn't.
A new FFGSW game started up just today when it became clear how high demand was. In fact a couple of forum members from here got in on it, but there's always more Players than the GMs can handle there too. So if you want to run, GP might suit you.
DERP, just noticed you called out GP in your post...

I don't have influence unfortunately.
You can subscribe to boards - each should have a button link on their page, below the topics themselves.
Regarding graphics: each GM has control over the visual appearance and colouring of their board. Normally they will adjust them if their admitted players have issues reading texts or the like, but otherwise it's the prerogative of each GM.
Not sure about passwords though. I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to tech...
You can tell passwords aren't properly encrypted without seeing the database, as you can ask for them to be sent to you. (at least by what the reset form says)
Basic encryption these days would be to encrypt them with a hash and store hash and encrypted password in separate database fields, with a one way encryption. Then, you can be authenticated by adding hash from database to the entered password use the same encryption. If they match, the password is correct, but it is very hard to work out the password from the database (years of processing hard).
As a result, one feature of a database doing this is that the website owner can never send you your password, so they just reset it to a random one and send you that. A website which can send you your password is insecure.
As it's a gaming site, you can take the risk, as long as you make 100% sure you don't use the password elsewhere.
It's time for that bump post from me! If you want to run, or join, a site that is tailor-made for running Star Wars Roleplaying games (and others), then I recommend you give this one a try. Speaking as someone whose game is nearing its second year anniversary, I can say with confidence that I've no regrets getting set up there.
Hopefully my players don't, either!

Are you still looking for a new character?
I am not, no. At least not for a little while yet. The site, however, still needs more players and GMs!
