need a good looking slim storage solution for the imperial raider

By khanyeeast, in X-Wing

Hey all,

so I have been looking for a good looking solution to house my imperial raider and all related accessories.

My regular xwing stuff fits perfectly into a Keter Cantilevel box (large ships, and all), but the raider is now flying solo and the cardboard it comes in is getting ready to see its last days.

I was looking into this bad boy to house the raider, but I am not sure if there is a lighter solution:

aside from battle foam or the likes of bulkier products, what do you guys use.

i want a slim clean fancy looking solution.

Maybe a wine box?

Sorry, I use a camera case for mine, but that camera case also fits a Gozanti, a Hound's Tooth, my maneuver templates, the ship bases for the huge ships, the range rulers, a little personalized Iron Man dice bag I had custom made, my laser angle measure and some dice!

This is it before I plucked out the space for the Gozanti. I payed 40 bucks on ebay for this, it came with a strap that I'm not using, and several dividers for sections. It came with enough pluckfoam to fill the case, but I removed the section down the side to make room for components.

Flambeau and Plano both make large plastic boxes without interior partitions. I haven't measured the Raider to verify the depth needed but a similar Flambeau box with partitions houses all my large base ships including the GR-75. If you have a Menards (like Lowes) they carry the partitionless Plano. Use some type of foam to secure your Raider during transport.

As an alternative, you can modify the partition type buy removing enough of the partitions to house the Raider and use the remaining pockets to carry the cards and tokens.

I did buy a couple of Plano trays that folks here told me fit the Epic stuff. It does. It was $10 off Amazon. I also bought a foam bed thing...to make your bed more comfortable...for $10. I cut it up and used it as protection. Have a ton left.

I also spent $10 on a plastic tool box from Walmart to house my 2 epic ships (when I only had 2). I saved the plastic it came in and just fit them one on top of the other. It went to hell when I bought the Gozanti.

If you have a Plano 1337, you can fit one in the top while still in the plastic shipping container, but there is little room for other things.

Cheap plastic toolbox from the hardware store.ships in the bottom bin, cards and tokens in the top tray.

Cheap plastic toolbox does not satisfy the sleek good looking requirement...Plano boxes are rather eye sores as well. I'm thinking a long wine bottle box would be best

I use Feldherr, they produce cases and bags with foam created for x wing(different templates for epic ship models, large models etc.) they are amazing and slick!

Violin case. Usually super cheap and found at antique shops. Would look very sharp with a tux and a monocle.

LOL much better response. But no seriously, are they inexpensive?

They are... I've picked up nice antique wooden ones for ten bucks.

You could foam the inside to taste and voilà...violla ....violin...

Er

Carry on.

I use this to carry my 3 epics:

You seem to have a very similar setup to mine. Keter cantilever toolbox for the fleet?

Actually, no. That's someone else's. It would be way to small for my fleet. I have a Plano 1374 to hold all my small based ships. I'm pretty packed. I then need another tool box for my large based ships.

I am looking at the big ship storage for the Transport, Hounds tooth, Devastator, and eventually the Raider and the Cruiser. I am thinking of going with the ArtBin Double deep. I use the single deep ArtBins for all the small craft, cards, stand and counters.

I also use a Sterilite stacker for counters and other odds and ends.

I have 3 AirBin cases. My fleet is getting pretty big so I have one Case for each faction and they are about 1/2 to 3/4 full.

I save a lot of money by just keeping them in the plastic that they came in. I'll often pick one up and toss it just to show people how well they are protected.
