Something I think could be quite a hitter list for the Empire.

(I bought a Mels Miniatures Lambda and Defenders to replace the physical models of Bossk and the Aggressors)

I have another variant that uses 5 Aggressors and 3 Firesprays.

To repeat myself, Only one out of eight Imperial ships can actually take ECM, and they are totally useless on the one ship that can use them if your opponent takes a single Intel Officer, and it is wasted points the rest of the game pretty much.

So my advice, take what ever ships you want as an Imperial, and do not fall into this mistaken belief that without ECM, your ships are worthless, or anymore vulnerable, they aren't.

I love me some non-ECM ISD's (they look so pretty when burning in vacuum)

If I roll even one accuracy there goes you using your brace.....and the Xi7s stop the redirecting.......that's a lot of hurt

None of the ships selected can use ECM's, so it's a none issue. I'd have to use an ISD-II and I have had all around better results with an ISD-I.

Disagree with what exactly? that as an Imperial you can have one ship out of eight with ECM on it? that is not up for discussion, it is a statement of fact, so my point being unless you only want to take Imperial II class star destroyers in your fleet, removing the other seven ships, which makes it kind of boring and very very limiting, you do not worry about the lack of ECM, you make a fleet using the ships you want to use.

That being said, even an ISD II with ECM is no magical guarantee of brace heaven, an Intel officer will remove it after one use, or you use it once, and the next ship that shoots gets a single accuracy, and guess what, you aren't using your brace. So why even bother with statements like "hmm no ECMs is worrying." it is not worrying it is over hyped nonsense.

And I agree with Englishpete, I have used ISD I several times now in games, and they are, just as if not more, potent than an ISD II, having 6 squadrons activate at once, at up to long range can be devastating, and an ISD II is not doing that.

As for the Fleet build, would you not be better served with a Flight Controller over an Intel Officer? Ideally you want your squadrons killing what ever is fielded asap (getting them points in the bag), so they can start throwing black dice at ships.

The Intel Officer vs Flight Controllers is one I've gone back and forth on and am still, to be honest, undecided. I am testing Intel Officer first as removing defense tokens should benefit the list perhaps more than a few extra blue anti squadron.

I do have another list, very similar in theme and approach but leaner on ship upgrades and meaner on squadrons...

I misread what you meant previously so apologies. If you are taking ships that can't take ECMs then my point is moot. You just fly differently that having an ISD2 on the board

An ISD1 is still a potent platform especially if you are running a lot of squadrons. All other Imperial ships are still potent without the ability to take ECM

However I do disagree that an ISD2 doesn't need to take ECM. It's more of a gunboat than the ISD1 and will generally be in the thick of things. Even if the opponent has Intel Officer (which not everyone takes) it's still one turn of using that brace...which can be a lifesaver. Once again it is a personal preference though and feel free to run them the way you want. I won't leave dock without them at the moment. With all the ISD2s and MC80s on the board it's difficult to repel firepower of that magnitude.

I like the list a lot but have you considered adding in a TIE Advanced to escort the Jumpmaster to stop fighters from jumping him early and stopping your ability to move your squadrons out of the furball

The Jumpmaster is there mainly so I can use my Lambda shuttle model. My Aggressors are being replaced with Defender models. Same cards and bases.

The beauty of this list is the Aggressors are OK in a furball as there main job is to hold up or kill other squadrons whilst the Firesprays are off ship swatting :-)

You could have problems using substitute models (for the fighters) in a tournament. but otherwise a good list that I'd hate to play against.

I have all the actual models painted as well, just in case.
