Question about a asteroids and debris field. What I was told was that if you're on an asteroid you get one extra defense die for being on the debris field or asteroid field. My question is when you're attacking from an asteroid or debris field is your attack considered obstructed?
asteroids and debris fields
In both cases all that matters is whether the attack crosses some part of the obstacle. If you're overlapping an obstacle and an enemy attacks you, but the line of attack (shortest straight line from part of their base to part of your base, restricted by firing arc unless the attacker can fire out of arc) doesn't happen to touch the obstacle, then you don't get the extra green die.
Similarly, if you're overlapping a debris cloud and you attack (remember you can't attack when overlapping an asteroid), if your attack crosses the debris cloud, your attack will be obstructed, granting the defender an extra green die. If not, not.
What digitalbusker said.
But I want to emphasize that there is no bonus just for being on a rock or debris field. It's fairly common for a ship on an asteroid to be positioned in such a way that enemy ships have to shoot through the rock, and if so there's an extra die there--but it's because in that case the shot is obstructed.

It's also worth adding that you cannot attack from an asteroid; only from a debris field.
