I was just wondering if there was a place that someone knew of that had all the current campaign maps in a digital format.
I looked at the index of useful links but only found a few of the maps.
I suppose I could just photocopy them but if there was a digital version that would be much better.
Campaign Maps
The official quest guides are copyrighted material. It is in fact illegal to create/post a digital version of the official campaign maps. Therefore, I don't expect you will find them anywhere (and if you do, you shouldn't be able to.)
Edited by ZaltyreI would like to add one thing to this ... a while ago, I sent an e-mail to FFG's legal department, requesting permission to make copies of all of the maps in a digital form, so that I had a backup of all of my quest guides.
I made sure that they understood that this was for my own use, and only as a backup, so that if anything happened to my quest guides, I would not have to potentially acquire new replacements ... especially if it happened years in the future when perhaps the game was no longer available.
They wrote back to me and provided me express written permission to do this, so long as I did not share them with anyone else, nor post them anywhere, etc.
The point is that this is further proof of Zaltyre's point above about how serious they do take their copyrights; but at the same time, they have made accommodations in the past to allow someone (me at least) to protect their investment for their own use.
Seems like reasonable middle ground to me.
Edited by any2cardsIt's hard to see where the line is with this. Because how do you define "for your own purpose"? I have a lot of files on my computer that I made myself, some of them including scans of cards, some of them with some written information (sometimes full paragraphs are copied) to help me maintaining our campaigns. I have never shared these files through an internet platform, however what if I gave one of my player a copy of some of these files? There is only one copy of the game shared between the players in my group (well, it's mine, but my players won't buy the game since they can play it wth me). If I decided not to be the overlord in the next campaign (against all odds, really
), could I give my overlord files to that player without breachnig the copyright?
Well, it certainly seems like this topic has spawned into something more than what I wanted it to. lol
I was not asking for quest guides or maps of quests, all I was looking for was the large overland map that the heroes use to travel between quests. Does anyone have those? Or are those also protected?
I realize that the quest guides/quest maps are protected under copy write laws. I would never ask for such a thing.
It also counts for those. Basically, I guess you could consider any pages that are not included in the official rules pdfs of each manual as copyrighted.
Okay then. Thanks for the information. I will figure something out. lol
What are you looking to do with them? I created large prints of my campaign map and put it on poster board. We have it on an easel and reference it when we travel. Is that what you're wanting to do? I think this is fine as long as you own the game.
Not specifically that, but at least have a copy so that the heroes and overlord (likely me) will always have access to a map without the book being passed back and forth all the time. Most likely what I would do is make a photocopy (or find a good copy) of the overland maps and print them on nice photo paper and have them laminated.
