I`m watching Clone Wars now, season 4, episode 16. Obi-Wan is under cover on Nal Hutta, disguised as a criminal. He uses a small, handheld comlink to communicate with Yoda and Windu on Coruscant.
Maybe they have/had better tech in the republic than in the outer rim in the rebel era...

I’m sure that he tied into a comlink relay which was then tied into a hypertransceiver relay, and then back again.

Jedi do it all the time. Except when they don’t. For reasons of PLOT, of course.

Given the proper permits and finances, sure, why not?

But not my band of misfits in the outer rim then. Got it... Guess the Empire has some strict regulations on communication. That fits!

I am the GM. I'll say they can with help or with slicing. It fits the setting and makes sense that communication is limited in the outer rim and restricted under the Empire.
