Better Call Saul on the Edge of the Empire:.. How to Build the Characters from the show?

By RodianClone, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Just for fun...

I am really into the spinoff show of Breaking Bad. But every time I see it I start thinking to myself, what would these guys be like in the Star Wars Galaxy, or even better, how would they be like as characters in Edge of the Empire?

So is Jimmy a politico, a performer, a scoundrel or a charmer? And Mike? Is he a bodyguard, an enforcer, a marshall or a mercenary soldier? What would their obligations. top characteristics, skills and talents be?

Feel free to bring in characters from Breaking Bad if you want... The shows both have an Outer Rim and Underworld feel to them, with all kinds of character obligation..

Mike is an enforcer. No doubt.

Jimmy is a charmer/scoundrel/scholar.

Tuco is a thief/entrepeneur.

Mike's obligation would definitely be to his grand daughter but IDK their relationship pre breaking bad, hasn't been established in better call saul yet so probably family. Depending on how deep his cop past goes you could argue a betrayal obligation for mike. Tuco's obligation will probably be affiliated with his criminal relatives or previous debts from Salamanca, so debt or family? (I think that's spelled right...) Saul doesn't have a clear obligation yet, maybe to his brother but not really, I'm sure we'll see it once the show reveals why he became saul.

Saul's intellect, presence, and cunning will need to be pretty high for what we see him do, I'd say more presence or intellect for jimmy and more cunning for saul. Mike has high agility and brawn for his use of firearms, and he probably has decent cunning and willpower. Tuco seems to be more or less the same as mike but with more obvious criminal elements.

Hope this helps

My first thought for Mike was Enforcer (that scene in the parking garage where he didn't bring a gun was classic Enforcer, and probably the best scene from the show so far). But he probably started out as a Marshal during his cop days.

Jimmy started his "career" out as "Slippin' Jimmy", which would probably be a Scoundrel, or maybe a Charmer. He then dabbled in Scholar when he got his law degree. In Breaking Bad, he picked up the other tree (Scoundrel or Charmer).

Jimmy starts with a Family obligation to his brother, but I think we can assume that he paid it off after the last episode :) And yes, Mike's main mission is providing for his granddaughter, so there'd be a Family obligation there, later possibly being Under Contract with Saul. He already paid off his Score to Settle obligation before moving to New Mexico.

They really didn't develop the drug dealers too much during the first season, and since I'm watching it on Netflix, I haven't seen season 2 yet.

Patrick Kuby: Driver/Scoundrel

EDIT: alternately, Driver/Assassin or Driver/Thief

Huell Babineaux: Bodyguard

Jesse Pinkman: Outlaw Tech/Entrepreneur

EDIT: Or, Outlaw Tech/Gambler

Walter White: Scholar/Entrepreneur/Demolitionist (come on, you've GOT to include this last one)

That plus scientist...

Season 2 is on netflix in Norway, that`s were I`m watching it.

Huell Babineaux: Bodyguard

Hmmm... I would say Rival: Hired Thug or more likely some kind of minion.

Well, YMMV, but I think he's worthy of full character status. I always liked Huell!

Yea, I guess I agree.. It would be fun to run a campaign based on these characters in a star wars reskin... Question, would they all still be human?

Btw @HernerJade, I would say Mike is really smart, so Cunning, Willpower and Intelligence would be the main ones, mostly the first two. The guns and fighting skills are, well, mostly skills and experience in my mind.

He has very high Underworld, Vigilance, Coercion, Cool, Discipline, brawl and Streetwise. His Ranged - Light isn`t bad either.

He is smart and experienced and does his homework.

Walter White would be a Cerean.

Tuco would be a Gank.

Pat Kuby would be a Dressellian.

Jesse Pinkman would be a Chadra-Fan.

Huell Babineaux would be a Weequay.

We don't get new seasons of anything on Netflix until it's been aired on their main network. So, as soon as AMC finishes airing all of season 2, Netflix will get it a month or so later. I've been lax in watching Walking Dead this year, so I'm going to have to wait until the season 6 gets on Netflix so I can watch the second half.

Nobody went for Saul being an Advocate? (Y'know, the lawyer spec from the Diplomat book.)

@OggDude Well, the episodes are weekly on netflix too, so I guess it doesn\t matter that much, except the availability.

You could try Hola and see netflix(and other stuff) from all over the world though..

Nah, that`s all the other guys he works with and his brother ;)
