The Sad Case of Blue Ace

Now do what ever you want with the ept, you also don't need to run integrated if you want thrusters.

I think blue ace is highly under rated.

Blue's ability and PS make this ship a "filler killer". R2-D6 finally has a good home as well and IA seals the deal.

A three T-70 list can be very effective and a lot of fun to fly. Both Blue and Red Ace are far too undervalued.

I second Artoo on Blue Ace as well. That green move is a lot less predictable and far more useful when you can add a hard 1 onto the end of it.

Also, I keep wanting to try Blue Ace with EI and an action based astro, maybe R7-T1?

I love Green Squadrons, and am used to planning ahead with them. With Blue Ace, you can make a much larger threat envelope than with a regular X-Wing. If you know your target needs to make greens, think about where it will land and set up to cover that. With this, you will make your enemy work much, much harder. Also, it is very easy to get back in the fight with Blue Ace, or switch pursuits. Plus there is what Biophysical mentions, which is the X-Wing equivalent of Scissors in air combat.

I would go with Predator -or- R2D2, although R2D2 can be a trap. For 31 points you want to be pouring shots into the fight, not zig-zagging trying to recover shields. Late game, it can be a game changer and it means your opponent has to try take down a very uncooperative target.

I'm thinking possibly Lonewolf on her? Deploy together, then break off from the main attack run and head for the asteroids. Then use your boost to make a nice hard pincer back into the action and hopefully get 1 - 3 attacks with your rerolls.

Blue Ace with R2 Astro could be hilarious, actually. HIghly unpredictable; even when stressed can turn 180 degrees.

Yeah, Jess Pava is fine if you treat her like the mid-PS beauty she is (basically Lt.Lorrir with boost instead of BR and implemented properly).

High PS is a crutch, mid PS is where the flavor's at...

There are few things more satisfying in this game than outmaneuvering someone's ship who's PS is higher.

I've had solid results with a simple R2-D6, Predator, IA build with my boy "Blue". Maneuvering shenanigan abilities are almost always overlooked and underrated. "Blue Ace" is more than capable of using his ability to get into positions your opponent will never see coming to get shots off. More than once I've blasted forward with a 4 straight, then hard-boosted right along the edge of a rock into a R1 shot with no returning fire. With essentially 7HP, he's a tough nut to crack and very slippery for non-aces to pin down.

Blue Ace + BB8 + IA is a good ship.

This is my vote for fun. I'm not sure it's competitive (at least, not without Garven/Kyle/Esege to help modify your attack rolls, all of whom are out of the metagame), but the ability to perform a complete matador turn as an action is crazy.

I like that you can bank one direction, then hard boost the opposite direction. That lets you displace laterally, but keep guns on a target. That's a sweet move, roughly equivalent of Barrel Roll out, then boost back in on a straight move, but you don't need PTL to do it.

Yup. The number of options available for Blue Ace's final position and orientation actually get a little overwhelming... and even more so if she takes BB-8. :D

"Me too." This maneuver dupes a joust and tricks your opponent for obliging.

Lol, I'm gonna just go ahead and change my list for today. I was working on this Dash list with him using an Autoblaster. Maybe I'll just drop his wingmen and throw in an Obfuscating Blue Ace.

I was just playing around with lists again, and you can fit R2 Blue Ace, R2D2/Comm Red Ace, and VI R5P9 Poe all with IA into a list. Seems like it could be solid.

Yeah, I like Lone Wolf too. She's easier to keep far away from the rest of your squad, because those guns can swing in so well with the hard bost. Instead of staying on a track toward the enemy, drawing her into Range 2 of friendlies, she can turn away with the regular move and turn in with the hard boost.

After tonight I can confirm that blue is great as is.

R2-D6 + Predator + IA is brutal. Pretty much single handedly killed 2 Fel's and a Jax. Poe had to mop up one of the Fel's and Jax had one hull left which Jake finished off.

I'm completely behing ue Ace being awesome now.

I like to fly Blue Ace as well. My two favorite loadouts are

Blue Ace

R2-D6

Predator

AT or IA,but generally AT

Blue Ace

R2 Astromech

AT

The movement shenanegans you can perform with him are so varied. I have found him to pair very will with Dutch or Garven, since I often fly him in such a way that he's boosting. Getting a free TL or Focus is a massive benefit.

its ok as a filler ship, but the amazing ability is really hurt by the low PS. PS5 is arguably the worst or 2nd worst place to be right now considering you pay for it.

I'd disagree with that. We're seeing a pretty big push for PS3-5 generics. Crackshot Blacks, Gamma Squadron bombers, Green Squadron A-Wings, Y-Wings, Warden Squadron Pilots... all of them don't really care that you're a PS9 pilot, so spending extra on that pilot skill doesn't help.

S&V is getting their own B-Wing equivelent to add to the PS3 meta, so PS5 is still useful there.

Some people seem to forget that not every pilot wants to high PS.

Weapons Guidance didn't come into play much, so probably gonna drop that. Likely could drop the torps too, but hey, they're pretty fun.

So I was thinking about Blue Ace today, and I had lots of fun ideas coming to mind for builds.

And then I remembered she has no EPT.

And then I also remembered she is only PS 5.

Yep, game design flaw.

The top-end PS pilots get best abilities, best activation time and EPTs

The only thing I can say about that is

DERPing Acewing!

Needs daredevil and experimental interface for 270 degree turns

....****! Never thought of that, That's hideous! I mean, double stress and all, but sheer comedy value.

One pairing that works well is R2-D6 and Adrenaline Rush: pull a Talon Roll then boost around back on yourself. It's a deranged maneuver....

I disagree, I am starting to really enjoy PS 3-7 they are cheaper and have some choice benefits. Things like my. Cartel spacer M3a I need to spend there focus on defence, however since they shoot last (most of the time) I can freely spend the defensive focus on offence that I would have to hold if they shot first since I can't afford to ever leave them defenseless. As for mud PS ships they can be bargins and I can't put my finger on it but they have been winning me games.
