Limitations on turrets (not moaning)

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing

Flak Turret; turret; range 3; damage 4; 1 point

Attack (target lock): Attack 1 ship outside of your firing arc. If this attack hits, the defender receives 1 stress token.

That's the biggest doughnut hole ever!

It's brokenness would depend on the cost of course, if you make the cost prohibitively high it wouldn't be broken. If you put it in a spam range then you'd be in trouble.

You could easily have Blaster Turret with range 3 because the activation cost is high and would work against mitigation (it would make HWK's more interesting though).

I never understood why blaster turret was so restrictive.

Who thought that was a good idea.

Would a range 1-3 turret need to be 7+ points? Just going from how powerful TLT is.

Well sort of the same way why proton torpedoes cost 4 and there was a munitions failure critical damage. FFG at first thought these type of upgrades were valuable but they overlooked the effect of tokens spent as dice modifications over standard attacks.

In a way Blaster Turret is the biggest restriction out there. All other turrets have to well be more expensive (like TLT) or have less firepower (like Dorsal Turret). They cna't make a range 1-2 or 2-3 turret that does as much damage as Blaster Turret otherwise FFG would introduce power creep much like the T-70 was to the T-65.

(too offensive to show)
